I just saw a great comment (by Seb Patrick) on a Red Dwarf fansite about the new Doctor that sums it all up perfectly!!

His quote was...

Quote
.....what Smith manages to do - astonishingly - is embody so many interpretations of the character. More than perhaps anyone before him, it's not that he's "the Eleventh Doctor" (as Moffat says, there aren't eleven Doctors, there's one Doctor with eleven faces) he's just... the Doctor. Absolutely and entirely. It's remarkable.

...and this puts into words exactly why I'm loving the current incarnation!! As young as Smith is, I buy into the fact that this is a wise man who has centuries of life's experiences that have shaped who he is

....and to cap it all, Amy Pond is equally as awesome. Both in actress and in character......I think this new era of Who is going to be the best. And, I still feel that we haven't entered the best stories that Moffat has to offer!!

Yes very impressed with the new series and the new Doctor. Splendid acting and stories although ep2 did have shades of 'Encounter at Farpoint' for me. :)

He has to grow on me. He's shown he can be a good Doctor. I can't get over his age. It will take time, but I think I'll like him.

I can honestly say Matt Smith is very quickly becoming the best incarnation on the Dr. As mentioned earlier ( great quote Antony) there is only one Dr, just 11 personalities and Smith is fresh and alien like. There is a Troughton touch to him but this is how I have always seen the Dr. Awesome.

Saw the second episode and liked it, but found some familiar plot elements in it.  Still enjoying Matt Smith and also Karen Gillan.  I'll always miss David but this new guy is doing good stuff.

There is the story arc being built is going to be fun.

After watching episode 2 I'm already loving the new Doctor. I don't know why I had any doubts, cause of course Moffat knows what he's doing.

I should just copy and paste my response, once again Mr. Smith is a great doctor, Karen Gillam is great. The story was also great. Also next week's episode looks GREAT...probably a two parter  :dalek
Was that the same whale as the one in the torchwood episode "meat"?
It is proving fantastic
I don't think it was....but couldn't be sure. I think this one seemed much larger and wouldn't fit in a warehouse like the other one. I did how ever read someone's posting elsewhere which said the noise was the same as the Torchwood one....so I maybe proved wrong......Where's Meds when you need him!!? :)
Darkmolerman
I think the torchwood one was a baby or something, that and they could have hacked it so much that it is now actually a small thing in a warehouse. that and how big is Starship UK in the first place? it could be the width of a warehouse and the height of.....a tall place
TBH, that had crossed my mind and is how I prefer to think of it.

What I want to know is
the whale throws up yes? they get thrownout but the mouth is clearly outside in space. Hmmmm something to think about. Regarding the Torchwood question part of me says yeah could be related its obviously not the same one but the part of me says no because Moffat ( i think ) wont link any RTD outside stories to his version of the Doctor.

That bothered me when I saw it. The "sick" rushed forth and they were suddenly in a corridor. The shaft that they fell down to land on the tongue seemed to come through the roof rather than by the teeth, so I assume the creature was somehow plumbed into the country/vessel. I'm guessing that they didn't exit via the mouth, but maybe some other plumbed in access of some kind

I was thinking the tube was plugged into its blow hole and thats what they fell through??
