Those are awesome. I'm really excited for more Doctor Who. For how much I want to watch new Doctor Who I'm thinking it time to declare Doctor Who my favorite current show on TV (Firefly is still my all time favorite, but Doctor who is certainly making a stand for 2nd all time). Matt Smith is quickly becoming my favorite Doctor as well. Thanks Meds for those.

Matt Smith officially signed up for 14 more episodes another Christmas special which leads into the 50th Anniversary. Don't get too excited though as these episodes are going to cover two years so all this will be involving the 50th Celebrations (2013)

Well you know the one major factor is Steven Moffat. Even if we do have to wait a bit I think we can rest pretty assured that Moffat will bring more awesomeness. If it's all gonna be one big ark as well it probably means it going to be pretty awesome lead in to the 50th. And if I have to wait I'm find great joy in rewatching the last two series.

I read that they plan on doing more individual episodes for the nest run but as you say they are bound to have some kind of story arc to lead into the 50th anniversary and its my bet that during that celebration episodes we will see another regeneration.

Thought this was a pretty cool pic with some fans recreating a Doctor Who setting...
Breaking news from the press screening of The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe.

BBC Entertainment news reporter, Lizo Mzimba tweeted: "Amy and Rory will leave 'heartbreakingly' during next series and The Doctor will get a new companion."

"Steven Moffat says plenty of Amy and Rory in next series, but they will leave 'heartbreakingly'. New companion not yet cast"

The official site twitter account has also confirmed the news: "The final days of the Ponds are coming during the next series. Then the Doctor will meet a new friend"
I think that's a good move.

Ditto.  I just finished watching the final episode of season/series 2.
Rose being left on earth 2.0 was actually kind of heartbreaking. But it drove home how lonely the Doctor's existence must be.
The nature of the Doctor/Companion dynamic is one of the coolest tension-building devices of the series.
I've enjoyed Amy & Rory, but the ride can't last forever.

Post Ponds, I'd really like to see the Doc pick up with a past classic series companion for a few episodes before bringing on a latest and greatest new companion.
