Without spoiling it until everyones had a chance to see it - I am afraid apart from a few bits I was underwhelmed!  My 6 nipples were not tingling.   I had to beat myself with birch twigs to keep myself interested!  Next week's looks great, though!!

I think there was a lot more happening within this episode than first appearances.
For me, it was a light hearted episode before the storm that is to follow. But it was all about letting us know where the Doctor's mind is at. He's abandoned the idea of companions deeming it unsafe for them and just seems to have a low self esteem for this episode.

They made a point of showing this, and then had James Corden's character spelling out for the Doctor that he is not unsafe. And the safest place to be during dire times is by the Doctors side. He reminded the Doctor that, if not for him, there wouldn't even be a planet Earth...and I think by the end, the Doctor seems to realise this to be true.
I'm really not a James Corden fan though and would have preferred a different character. But it worked...and that is just my personal opinion of the actor, not the character

Really enjoyed the latest episode, I thought it was ideal to be the one before the big finale. I'm also not a great fan of James Corden but he did a good turn in  this.

Heres the prequel to the final eisode.

Who is a James Corden fan (apart from Patrick Stewart). I really liked this. The A plot was quiet and quirky although still menacing (and confirmed once and for all...
that what once were Pete's world Cybernen are 'real' in this particular reality
.

Arguably, of course, the B plot was really the A plot since it set The Doctor up for
episode one o this series which clearly follows this one... as well as being a whole aeries before it.
Moffat has clearly played the long game this season. What comes next week will tell us how well he's done at it.
I spent the whole episode trying to work out which Doctor we were watching but they cleared that up pretty well at the end.
A good episode. Roll on next week!

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

And, I forgot to say,...
a Star Trek reference!
Yes i did laugh at the sci fi reference.

I'd never considered The Doctor knowledgable in such things. Sort of like Holmes I guess, in that he knows what he knows and doesn't give a fig about anything else.
The whole 'Shh' thing annoyed me a bit. If it's real, why haven't we seen that before? Just inventing new abilities can be fun but has historical implications. Similarly now for the sonic screwdriver shooting laser beams. But hey, we got Cybermats!
I know what you mean. Though i thought the line "hold on i've got an app for that" was quite funny.

Watched the recent episode on the airplane today on my iPad. Really liked it a lot. Maybe some of you old Who fans don't care for the SF references and other stuff but I got a big kick out of it. This Doctor has always tried to fit in more it seems to me. Anyway, cool episode.

Meds

Oh I love any SF references in Dr Who, I kind of like the fact that he watches TV.

Rico

Maybe it's just Feathers. He seems really down on the Doctor this season.

For me this season has been the best of new who. I get really excited about a new episode coming up.

I have specific quibbles on specific episodes, sure, but I think it's more that the big things seem to be managed so well that it's a shame some of the little things get through without challenge (the sonic-scredriver is MASSIVELY overused and could do with being lost for a season or two).

I am concerned that the overall story arc has been a little too strong and maybe just a bit too clever to the point that you can no longer dip in and out, but other than that I'm quite happy. It's mostly better than last season, certainly.
