Couldn't agree with you more. I think it's like when people wanted a big kingpin at the end of the prisoner and when they didn't get it they felt let down. Crap really, I mean what did people expect? The Dr to die? Really? Come on!! Lol

On a side note the next series starts next October so we will have 10 months to wait after the Christmas special then the series after will be the 50th anniversary, I have a feeling we'll see a regeneration in that celebration.

One thing I try to do when watching any TV show or movie is ask myself the simple question ---  Was I entertained?  Anything may have little plot holes, weaknesses, etc.  But, were you entertained?

Now, I was completely entertained by this Doctor Who season/series finale.  There were some wonderful moments.  Like how can Amy even look hotter with an eye patch? (LOL!)  And I loved the opening first 10 minutes or so especially.  Are there a few little things here or there that maybe bugged me a little or had me scratching my head - yes.  Are there things like that in just about anything I watch - yep.  Anyway, this show is still one of my favorites and nothing can change that.    :wub

Amy with a eye patch and River with a eye patch. They both look awesome ;)

This episode more than ever has me convinced that...
River is not dead. I think that knowing what he knows about River's timeline, the Doctor would have found a way to save her. I think that River has been running into the younger versions of her husband because he couldn't cross his own timeline, but I can see him giving up on her as hard as she fought to save him. I wouldn't be surprised if it all ties back to even the title of her first appearance episode.
Well...
I used the term cop out not because I expected the Doctor to die, of course they would get out of it but the resolution doesn't make any sense to me.

A) they were hammering home that it was a fixed point in time where the Doctor had to die. This is why he didn't run away and he faced it. In the end though he did run away and faked his death.

B) His marriage to River was shoehorned in for no reason. All they had to do was touch to get time running again, not get married.

I think Moffat is a good writer but he has this habit of blindsiding the audience with flashy reveals and mega time paradoxes that in my opinion takes your eye of the actual flow of the plot (holes) and then neatly side steps a lot of the questions that we had throughout the series which I find very frustrating.
Is
She still going backwards through his timeline? If so then their shouldn't be anymore scenes with the two together in future shows unless the Doctor goes back along his own timeline right?
Dan ...
They got married because she loved him and wasn't going to send him to his death without marrying him. Chalk it up to woman's prerogative. She wasn't going to agree to his request unless he proved himself to her.
Well ...
We don't know how long they spent together. It could be that they spent most of their married life together after he was pronounced dead for the universe.

Ok but the further forward in his timeline the less she knew him right? I'm just not clear where this love thing came from. And we had already seen him withess her regeneration so this River Song must be further along the timeline so they are breaking that rule here. It is an utterly confusing plot device, most likely on purpose. I may just give up worrying about it! Lol
Ah but....,
The Dr hasn't married River a robot is not you so that's null and void straight away. Plus the Dr has been on the run for over a thousand years (he's at least 1600 years old).

Now the big question is Doctor Who?? So his name is in the works again. I'll tell you this it has at least 38 syllables ;)

Was he a robot here? I thought this was the alternate reality where time had stopped and he was him. His plan to use the robot was in the "real" reality. Touching River returned them to it. Would touching a robot do the same thing? This is what I mean, a lot of plot holes and side stepping. Lol
Yes,
it was him in the robot when they got married. He told River to look into his eye. She saw the little Doctor inside. That's how she knew he wasn't dead.
