I refuse to buy it, no way, pointless exercise in wasting my hard earned money on these Blue ray discs, POINTLESS i say. Let me say this again I AM NOT BUYING THEM AND DO YOU KNOW WHY?
I don't own a Blue Ray player and although I care nothing for the updates i would dearly love to geek out at all the special features and it just sitting there knowing it can't be played would be just  torture ha ha    :roflmao
Dangelus

That's a very good reason to boycott these discs Meds! Top man ;)

This is pretty funny, the Shat talking about Star Wars.

To be clear...which is a challenge right now as we have been wine tasting all afternoon and now enjoying our purchases.. I am not a rabid GL defender. I found many aspect of the prequel lacking. Jar Jar, Battle Droid humor, about 50% of Anakin's entire prortrayal, any scene with Hayden and Natalie designed to promote an emotional response, I have issues with. Han shoots first, a dodgy Jabba, not so hot. But none of threes or any of the new additions, send me into some bizarre apocolyptic fit of fan rage. It just doesn't really alter my love for the conent which I have been enjoying since day one of this franchise. And hating on GL because we or anyone might disagree with the choices made is assinine. It is his story tell, let him tell it.

I picked up the Blu-Rays after work. About half way through A New Hope right now. Looks Amazing. It feels great to be excited to watch a Movie that I watched so many times over 34 years. I must admit I have not kept up on some of the criticism, as some of it seems more like a Axe to grind against George Lucas like Bryan stated, or just the typical negative spin that the internet seems to churn out.

Looking forward to more Star Wars tonight, and getting into some extras, and taking a break to watch the Clone Wars. :)

It may shock you that my position isn't that far from yours Bryan.

I am not a purist, in general I like the special editions and the prequels. I'm not a GL hater, I accept that he has every right to do what he does with his property, that he is s business and that he has to maintain and grow the franchise.

I don't mind change, heck I'm a big fan of the Star Wars Revisited project and what they are trying to do.

George Lucas has been changing Star Wars since 1980 so it isn't anything new or shocking that he will continue to do so. It has become accepted.

I don't agree with every change made to the SW saga over the years (you may have noticed!) but I lot have improved or fixed problems. The last couple of generations of changes have created a lot of problems and ignored so many easy fixes and that irritates me. :)

Blu-Ray is the current quality standard and I guess I am disappointed that Lucasfilm didn't give the movies the major overhaul they deserve but instead concentrated on unnecessary tweaks and additions.

I hear you, Dan. I suppose it comes down to I don't mind spending the $ every few year, to be honest. Let him keep coming out with new editions, I will keep paying. Good Lord, it's a dinner out for the cost, who cares? And if $80 iis an issue you have other priorities to get right.

Dangelus

I'm sure I'll own these (or the next set lol) one day :)

I've just read that Greedo no longer shoots first on the Blu-Ray version, he and Han shoot SIMULTANEOUSLY. No joke!

Has anybody noticed this?

God bless you George for keeping us entertained! :)

Dan - the Greedo change/tweak has been altered a little bit more in each edition since the whole thing started years ago.  The recent DVD's prior to this set had them shooting "roughly" at the same time.  Not that it really matters anymore.

...not that it really matters... Sums it up well for me.

Well Wallmart actually beat Target's price by .03 cents! Woo hoo! Just finished watching The Phantom Menace and I thought the picture quality is quite amazing and the surround sound is mind blowing! My wife and I debated over whether we start with episode one or do we start with episode four and watch them in their original release order. Since we have seen them all so many times already we just decided to watch then in episode order to follow the continuity of the story.

I have to agree with Bryan and others about many things in the prequels are lacking but there are so many things well done that I am forgiving. I don't know if we can get through all six films in a week but we'll try.

Never really bothered me that much, except "bouncy head Han" did look a bit odd.

For this set Lucasfilm ran tests with the intention of replacing the Yoda puppet from ESB and ROTJ with CGI. It didn't look right and was abandoned. I wonder what the reaction to this would have been?

Sadly one of the problems with trying to watch the films in episode order is the distinct lack of continuity between the trilogies.

Bryancd

I call BS on that. They may have tested it but no way it would have bern changed. It is well known GL loves Frank's work in ESB.
