Ok, now, I know that TV news reporters are just doing a job, but....99.9999% of the time they can sure ask some extremely STUUUUPID questions. For example, very recently here in AZ, a 4 year old boy went missing in the wilderness. After about 18 hours, he was found.  Great news.  The local TV news interviewed the little boys mother and asked her...now get this...ASKED her if she was happy her son was found unhurt! REALLY?! Is THAT a question that needs to be asked? She went on to ask if she was grateful that the search and rescue team never gave up? Like I said, I know they're just doing a job, but why as the most idiotic questions? Just to make air time? Sheese!!!  :lol2 :confused :confused

While I support rants, here is an easy way to avoid this issue:

Don't watch mainstream media.

Problems solved (currently using this solution :P)

:P :P :P

Al, you missed the point! It was actually a very intelligent set of questions - they were trying to entrap her into admitting live in front of a camera that she had deliberately abandoned her child and hoped never to see him again.

Nobody would be stupid enough to ask those questions would thay? Thus, these were actually reeeeally intelligent people trying a double bluff manoeuver.

;) :D

I know it's unnusual here but I don't have a podcast of my own.

QuadShot

King, I generally follow that advice myself, but on a few occasions fall into the trap....

Feathers, perhaps you've got something there! It's crazy to think anyone is stupid enough to ask those questions :)

I've seen people ask things like this before.  I guess it does seem odd but I almost think it's a rhetorical question.  It's like telling someone who has lost a family member that you are sorry.  Frankly, there isn't much you can really say or ask under circumstances like this.  Also, there are a ton of "news" people out there who are terrible at talking to people and coming up with good things to ask.  If it isn't all planned out they can't improvise.  They just don't have the experience.

QuadShot

So true. I guess a prereq to being an on air TV reporter should be hosting a podcast! You learn quickly how to improvise!! :)
