"Riese: Kingdom Falling"

Check out this new online fantasy series by the SyFy channel.  Basically a Princess named Riese is trying to regain her throne and is on the run with her companion, a wolf named Fenrir.  A cool thing about the online series is you will see some actors from the Stargate shows, Smallville, and BSG.  Kind of has a little steampunk feel to it too.  Here's a wallpaper to give you a taste.  New episodes go up on Tuesday's and Thursday's and only two have been released so far.  Pretty cool!

Has anyone been watching this series?  Just curious about your opinions.  I plan on mainlining the 10 episodes sometime this weekend.

I watched all 10 episodes this weekend. 

I think it's interesting that they're promoting it as a "steampunk" series.  In my opinion, the only thing really steampunk about it is the costuming.  Sure, some of the monsters have gears on, but I have actually seen anything running on steam.  Which seems odd.  It just feels like a fantasy world, but they're trying to pull in steampunk fans with some brass gears.  Odd.

Also, I'm not sure about the narrator.  I mean, I love Amanda Tapping, but I don't know what's added by telling us the story.  Show us the story.  Or have have the narrator be the character's thoughts.  Or something.  Again, it just seems weird to me, and took some getting used to.
