Has anyone here had surgery?

I've been under general to have my wisdom teeth extricated (hardly needed the anesthetic, I'd been up all night working a fire and then ran an EMS call when I could have gotten a whole hour of sleep), two more times when I had artificial lenses implanted in to my eyes (cataract surgery when I was 35), and again when I had an umbilical hernia repaired.  I tend to metabolize anesthetic fast and during the hernia surgery opened my eyes, looked at the surgeon doing his thing and told him "that *#*#*#*# hurts!"

Don't sweat it, you'll do fine.  I know two people that have had their gall bladders out and they are both happier without it.

Yeah I can shake off that numbing stuff pretty quick. When I had the stitches on my eyelid and under my eye, I finally had to tell him to just finish and stop worrying about my pain because I could manage it myself. That being said, stitches to the eyelid is an interesting pain.

Right on. Thanks for the replies guys, still being neurotic about it. That's how I am with any event in my life, obsess and fear till it happens. Thans for the replies.

Totally understood.  You're going to do fine though, nothing to worry about.  They hardly ever accidentally remove a lung or a testicle when going in for a gall bladder anymore.

Ha! I wouldn't mind if they cleaned up the joint a little while they're in there though. I'm sure the Star Wars blaster I swallowed when I was 4 may still be knocking around in there.

Perhaps that's what is in your gall bladder causing all the commotion!

You will be fine do not get yourself all stressed out over it.....I believe Rick Moyer has a podcast out this week about stress and what it can do to you. If your nervous i am sure the Dr can and will give you a sedative before you go in. It will be over before you know it and you will look back and think what the heck did i put myself through all the worry :)  Be well !

Well, I'm going in tomorrow. Blech. I don't feel like doing this. Certainly I can get a month off of work some other way???

Good to see you up and whining!  :)

Ha, thanks. I never want to spend another night in a hospital, ever. There was free wi-fi, though. Netflix and HBO to go helped.

Nights in hospitals are designed to make you want to get well --- FAST!  And then get the heck out of there!

Had a horrible roommate who kept me up all night, and when I would drift off to sleep he would turn the TV on or the light, or start to talk to himself. Not to mention that the beds are horribly uncomfortable and I was already in tons of pain.

Oh, I'm still whining. Gotta rein that in.
