This weekend on the show I recorded a Skype chat that took place yesterday with several friends of the podcast as we talked all about "The Avengers" film and other upcoming summer movies.  Almost all of us had seen the movie by this point (some of us have seen it more than once) so we chat about how much we enjoyed the film and how great it was.  The are some slight spoilers during the discussion but nothing huge I think.  It was great to geek out with my friends about this great new Marvel movie.  Besides "The Avengers" we also all touch on a few of the other films we are looking forward to this summer (you might be surprised by some of our picks).  I want to give a big thank you to:  Bryan, Rick Peete, Mark, Joe, Joby, Pete, and Meds for taking some time from their Saturday to talk geeky stuff with me over Skype.  We had a great discussion and I know everyone will get a kick out of what we all had to say.  Tune in next week when guest hosts Jen and Meds will be covering the vampire film "Perfect Creature" for all of you.  Take care and enjoy your upcoming week. This week, we take a look at the 4th season Voyager episode called, "Hunters."  This is a cool episode and I do a full episode commentary on it.  First up, I give a mini spoiler-free review of "The Avengers" movie (now playing in theaters everywhere).  Suffice it to say that I loved the movie and want to see it again very soon.  Great way to officially start the summer movie season.  Then I dive into revealing some of the recent "spoilers" floating around the net about the next Trek movie.  These are pretty close to facts now so I thought I would mention what I have heard and read.  I'll be making a Trek post here very soon about these new bits of info that we have discovered about the next movie (now only one year away).  And then I move on to the main topic - the Voyager episode. This episode of Voyager is a good one I think.  It deals with a couple stories going on (like many Trek episodes seem to do).  The main story is Voyager receiving "letters from home" via a communications array they discover.  This sets up some good character moments for all of the crew and cast.  We also meet up with the bad guy species called the Hirogen for the first time on the series.  This predator type of alien hunts for sport and takes Seven of Nine and Tuvok hostage.  Eventually Voyager retrieves them, but we get to see just how nasty these aliens can be.  I think this is a cool episode and it sets things up for many future stories to come and also begins the time when Voyager gets periodic information and communication from back home. The podcast this week covers the fifth season TNG episode called "A Matter of Time."  I start the show with some general news and then quickly move on to Trek talk too.  Some new pics have surfaced from the Trek movie set of Spock (Zachary Quinto) in an EV type of suit.  Looks pretty cool to me.  I also touch on some other movie talk and how much I'm looking forward to seeing "The Avengers" movie in just two weeks!  Can't wait for that one!  Then I move on to the Trek episode for this week. This episode of TNG is a fun little tale of time travel along with the Enterprise trying to help a planet survive some disasters they are having.  Guest star Matt Frewer (Max Headroom) plays the main guest character of Rasmussen and is tricky to figure out for the crew.  He claims to be a time traveler from the future, but a few of the crew are a bit suspicious of him.  Frewer does a great job here and this is a cool episode to watch once again and talk about with all of you.  We also have some comments from Rick Moyer on this episode and some cool new music he is working on to listen to. I round out the podcast with a short review of my new Bishoujo Batgirl Statue that I got off eBay from Toynk made by Kotobukiya.  This is a variant piece of the statue they first did in her purple outfit.  It's about 7-8 inches high and nicely detailed and painted.  This version is in black and I think it's very cool.  They are still pretty easy to find around online if you want to pick one up.  There are other comic characters that they have done in this Bishoujo style you can find too.  That's about it for this time folks.  Tune in next weekend when guest host Marc (M-5 on the forums) will be reviewing the cool film, "The Black Hole."  Take care until then and enjoy your upcoming week.
