Podcast # 258 – “11:59” – 0912.20

This weekend on the podcast I cover a Voyager episode with a full commentary while I watch the show.  The episode is called, “11:59″ and is from season five of the Voyager series.  First, I comment a bit on the recently released movie, “Avatar” by James Cameron and many others.  This movie is a technological feast and amazing looking piece of work.  But it also has a nice story and a lot of heart at the center of it.  Got a chance to see it on opening day and was really impressed by what I saw.  I didn’t see it in 3-D, but that’s kind of the way I prefer it.  I urge everyone who is interested in this film to go see it in theaters.  This is definitely a film that deserves to be seen on the big screen.  I also pass on some recent Trek news on various topics, including Patrick Stewart soon being knighted in England.  Pretty cool Patrick!

Then it’s on to the episode for this podcast, “11:59.”  This is a different type of Voyager episode.  It’s mostly set in the past, showing us the life of one of Janeway’s ancestors.  This is mainly a romantic tale and is a nice break from the usual fights and battles that the crew of Voyager have to deal with each week.  Kate Mulgrew really shines in this episode and we also get some nice moments with Neelix and others in the episode.  There is also a solid guest cast as well.  A very nice episode to watch again and cover for you.  I hope you enjoying listening to it and my comments.  Thanks Kenny for your comments this week too!
