This weekend on the podcast I finally tackle the first LOTR film, “The Fellowship of the Ring.” This is one of my favorite fantasy films and also my favorite of the trilogy. I first chat a little about my recently new job, some Trek news and other geeky topics. Not a huge amount going on lately, but there are some interesting things, like the upcoming “Star Trek: Online” that is due out on Feb. 2nd. I haven’t had a chance to play the beta yet, but I’m anxious to try it out. I’m also a bit behind on my TV watching but I am trying to catch up. Hard to do all this while starting a new job – especially one in another state. But, I think I’m starting to get a handle on it all.
Then I move on to my discussion about the first ‘Rings’ movie. This is epic story telling and I think Peter Jackson did an amazing job with a near impossible task. To coordinate filming of all three movies together, the casting, the effects, the look, the music, and so on – well I think he did a great job on it all. The nice thing about this movie is it’s sort of timeless since it’s set in Middle Earth and in a fantasy setting. I really enjoyed going through the movie for the podcast and selecting what clips to play. There’s so much richness and amazing stuff in the film, it’s hard to know what to cover and talk about. I tried to give you my thoughts and impressions as well as some behind the scenes info and details on casting, and other aspects of the production. I learned a thing or two myself that I didn’t know before. I found myself wanting to play even longer clips and just sit back and enjoy the movie once again. I hope everyone enjoys my brief look at this wonderful movie and it makes you want to watch it all again.
That wraps things up for this weekend. Please come back next weekend when I will be looking at the TNG Trek episode, “The Most Toys.” Take care until then.
