<\/a>This week on the podcast we return to TOS. But first some sad news. It seems the staff of www.startrek.com<\/a> have all been let go. It seems CBS is doing some reworking or restructuring and has let the entire web site staff go. This almost happened a few years back as well. I’m not sure what the overall plan is since there is a new movie coming and lots of Trek stuff going on like the remastered episodes, HD-DVD’s, etc. I’ll keep watching this story and see how it all plays out. I also report on the movie, “I Am Legend.” Went to see it yesterday with my two sons and we all really enjoyed it. Check it out if you want to see a cool movie at the theaters. Also got a look at the newest trailer for the next Batman film, “The Dark Knight.” This movie looks awesome to me, especially being a big comic and Batman fan.<\/p>\n

We have another musical segment this week from Vartok on Al Silvestri. He has had an amazing career composing some very well known and popular film scores. These are interesting and well done segments and my thanks to Vartok for sending them in. Also a few other bits of Trek and SF news, my final take on the miniseries “Tin Man” all before we get to the episode commentary.<\/p>\n

The episode this weekend is one of the rare gems from season three of the original series. It’s a tale of action, adventure, excitement and even a little of Mr. Spock getting his groove on. Hehe! We get a rare close look into Romulan society as well as how women can hold important positions of power there. This is a tight and very well acted episode and William Shatner does a great job at playing “crazy.” As always, it was fun to look at another classic in “Star Trek” history and give you my take on it. Check out the episode if you haven’t watched it in awhile. It holds up very well even after about 40 years. We also get to hear Rick Moyer’s impressions of the episode and a report on the progress on his home repairs. It sounds like things are shaping up for the Moyer’s and we are very happy to hear that.<\/p>\n

<\/a>I finish off the podcast with a quick look at a collectible. This is the police special blaster or gun that Harrison Ford uses in the classic SF movie, “Blade Runner.” This is a plastic and metal mixed piece I picked up a couple of months ago. It has four LED’s that light and the chamber opens as well. I’ve always liked the look of this gun with the double trigger and finally own a cool replica of it. Many different versions of these have been made over the years with each one getting a bit closer to the original. A guy named Richard Coyle is currently making some very accurate versions of them both in plastic & metal mix and an all metal version. Again, a very cool piece.
