This week Vartok returns with another musical interlude.  This time he covers Basil Poledouris<\/a>!  Here are some comments from Vartok on his latest guest podcast.<\/p>\n

Basil Poledouris, an American composer, orchestrator, and conductor wrote music for feature length and TV films and shows.  He is included on the list of the 30 most famous composers for film, and was active from 1970 through his death at age 61 in 2006.  Some of his most famous scores included those for Conan the Barbarian,<\/span> Red Dawn, RoboCop, Conan the Destroyer, Starship Troopers,The Hunt for Red October, Free Willy, and Cherry 2000.  He also composed some of the opening ceremony music for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.  Basil Poledouris proved himself a master of melody and emotional power, producing a wealth of music that ranged from rousing adventure to intimate drama.<\/span><\/p>\n
