Podcast # 852 – “Cytonic” – 2202.13

This week it’s a group cast talking all about the fairly new book, “Cytonic” by Brandon Sanderson. I got together last night on Skype with my good friends Jen from the Anomaly Podcast and also Rick Peete too. We had a nice, in-depth discussion on this book which is book three in a four book series call “Skyward.” We’ve all been reading these books as they come out (I think in the audio format for all of us for all the books). All three of us have been enjoying the series and this book is a solid entry in the series. Be warned, there are spoilers in the podcast. Most fairly minor, but I some larger ones near the end of the show. Also, we tangent into talking a bit near the end about adapting books in TV and movies which is a topic that needs it’s own podcast. I really want to thank my guests for this week for joining me for a great show.

Next week will hopefully be a guest cast. Until next time, take care and enjoy the Big Game today if that is something you watch and do.

Podcast # 851 – Low Budget Fantasy Films – 2202.06

This week it’s all about lower budget fantasy films. But first I talk about the recent films and TV that I have been watching. Lots of amazing stuff showing on TV lately, including the latest episode of “The Book of Boba Fett” and many others. Really enjoying what is coming out.

Moving on to the main topic there is a whole sub-genre of fantasy films that have fairly small budgets but are still fun to watch. I run down a few lists I found online and mention a few of my favorites too. Usually these movies don’t have the greatest effects and so on but still can be engaging and good too. Check out a few when you can.

That’s about it for this week. Next week should be a guest cast with Mark hopefully. Until next time stay safe and enjoy your week ahead.

Podcast # 850 – Patreon Chat – 2201.30

This week it’s a PATREON member chat. I got together with Quinn, Mark, and Doug on Skype yesterday and we had a great conversation about recent movies and TV we have all been watching. There has been a lot of great entertainment the past few months and we hit on most of the big genre topics. We spend time talking Trek, Spider-Man, Dune and a whole lot more. Big thanks to the guys who not only support the podcast on PATREON but also took time out of their weekend to join me for this fun call. You guys ROCK!

I’ll be back next weekend with another brand new show. Until then take care and enjoy your week.

Podcast # 849 – Grab Bag – 2201.23

This week I cover a grab bag of various topics on the podcast. First up, I cover all the recent Trek news, including running down the premiere dates and the new “Picard” season 2 trailer. Great time to be a Trekkie!

Then I move into talking about some recent series I’ve finished. Things like “The Expanse”, “Cowboy Bebop”, and “Lost in Space” are just a few of the ones I cover this week. Such a great range of stuff to watch these days there is always something new to talk about.

That’s about it for this week. I hope you are staying well and enjoyed this week’s podcast. Next weekend my plan is to do a Patreon group chat. Until then, take care and enjoy your week.

Podcast # 848 – Potter Rerun – 2201.16

This week it’s a repeat show from 2015 when my friend Kenny and I covered the first Harry Potter film and book. We have been slowly working our way through the Potter series and with the new HBO special I thought it would be fun to look back on this first show we did. One comment I have to say is my side of the audio is not great on this show. Can’t quite recall why that was the case. But in any case, I hope you enjoy revisiting this podcast or listening for the first time.

Next week my plan is to cover “The Expanse” since it ended it’s run as a series. Should be a lot of fun. Thanks to Kenny for his help with this podcast and others in the series we have done. I hope we can record a new Potter cast soon too. Take care and enjoy your week ahead.

Podcast # 847 – Spidey Team-Up – 2201.09

This week Chris and I got together to talk about the new film, “Spider-Man: No Way Home.” There are some spoilers in the podcast, so you have been warned. We talk about our history with the character in the comics and also the other previous films too. Then we discuss this newest movie (shocker – we both really liked it). Fun time talking about this film.

Later in the show we talk a bit about the newest Matrix film, the current Boba Fett TV series and even some “Star Trek: Discovery” too. A pretty wide ranging nerd chat. Big thanks to Chris for joining me this week. Check out his newest show he does with Joe called “Journey to Wonder” which can be found where you get your podcasts, of course.

Next week will be a guest cast or repeat show. Until next time take care and enjoy your week.

Podcast # 846 – Music of Clinton Shorter – 2201.02

This week Vartok is guest hosting for the first podcast of 2022. He covers the great music of Clinton Shorter who does the music on “The Expanse” TV and other properties. I love the TV series and the music and Vartok does another amazing job covering the music and composer. By the way, Vartok sent me an amazing document filled with all kinds of info on “The Expanse” series, the music, the actors, and more. Spoilers if you haven’t seen the series. If you want to download the document find at VARTOK’s NOTES. Big thanks to Vartok for another great podcast.

Next weekend I think my plan right now is to do a group cast to talk about the recent “Spider-Man: No Way Home” film and a couple other topics. Until next time, enjoy the first week of the new year and stay safe out there!

Vidcast # 845 – “Merry Trekmas” – 2112.24

My annual holiday vidcast is now up. It was another weird year, but we still had a lot of great genre content in movies and TV to enjoy and help us get through it all. Thanks to those that sent in videos for this show. Really appreciated that at this time of year. Wishing all of you a great holiday season with family and friends. Next week will be a guest cast with Vartok. I’ll talk to you all again in the New Year!!
