Thanks much to Rob in Orlando for this show’s take on the Voyager theme. Nicely done Rob. This week’s podcast covers many fun & geeky things. I start out going over some Trek news related to new collectibles and the movie. First, Diamond Select is making the third prop item in their series of excellent replicas. This time it’s the original series Tricorder as seen on the show. This looks to be a great piece, is 1:1 scale and is due out in October later this year. It was shown at the recent con in New York. You can learn more about it HERE and preorder it HERE. Make sure to order one soon. Then I play some of an interview that was done at last weekend’s Grand Slam Trek Con in California. E! Online talked briefly to Leonard Nimoy and Zachary Quinto about playing Spock in the new movie and the whole Trek phenomenon. No real spoilers, so no worries there. You can read more about this and view the interview via this link. I also make some quick comments about the current Sci-Fi I’ve been watching on TV – including the awesome Battlestar Galactica as it continues with season 4 of the show.

Then I move on to do a full commentary of the 2nd season Voyager episode called, “Tuvix.” I really enjoyed watching this episode once again and it has many great moments and some powerful acting in it. In this episode Tuvok & Neelix are merged into one being due to a transporter malfunction. The new character who calls himself Tuvix quickly becomes a valued member of the crew and good friend to all of them. The moral dilemma is when they discover a way to split the two apart to bring Tuvok & Neelix back, but this of course would destroy Tuvix. Captain Janeway is faced with a very difficult choice and the episode doesn’t shy away from the subject. Kes gets many good scenes as does the Captain in this one dealing with Tuvix and what to do about the difficult situation. I like the idea of this episode and it was interesting who they decided to combine together. The guest actor playing Tuvix (Tom Wright) does an amazing job with the part he was given. I hope you enjoy hearing what I have to say about this cool episode of Voyager. We also get some great comments from Kenny & the Moyer’s too. Loved the song guys. Thanks much!

And I finish off this week’s show with a very quick review of a new prop replica set I got a few weeks back. This is a replica set of the Commlock and Stun Gun as seen on “Space: 1999.” It’s made by a company called Iconic Replicas Ltd. and they did a nice job on the set. You get both items in the package along with a very nice acrylic display case. The items are in 1:1 scale and painted and finished well. The edition size is only 1000 and is fairly limited. I’ve always wanted some nice replicas of these two items and even made my own growing up. Click on the picture here to see more images of them in my collection gallery.

Once again, we reach the end of another show. I hope all of you enjoyed it. Talk to you next week when I will be covering the TNG episode “Hollow Pursuits.” Until then, take care and enjoy the nicer weather I hope you are having.
