This weekend on the podcast I focus on a fifth season TNG episode called, “The First Duty.” This is a Wesley Crusher focused episode set mainly at Starfleet Academy. But first I talk about a recent film I watched – the new version of “Fright Night.” This was a pretty cool movie and it also had David Tennant in it too. Check it out when you can. I also fill everyone in on the latest Trek movie news and some info on recent SyFy Christmas specials that I watched and enjoyed from “Eureka” and “Warehouse 13.” Lots of cool stuff to see lately. Then it’s on to the Trek episode for this week.
“The First Duty” is really a story about loyalty to your friends and loyalty to the truth. Wesley is caught up in covering up a lie after an accident with some classmates at the Academy. There is a great deal of good drama in this one and Wil Wheaton gets to stretch and shine as Wesley and really grow I think. It’s also fun to see Boothby played by Ray Walston as he interacts with Captain Picard. Robert Duncan McNeil also gets a great role as Cadet Locarno too that is sort of a precursor to Tom Paris. A very enjoyable episode and one I’m glad I finally covered.
I end this week’s podcast with a new Trekmas song from Rick Moyer called: “It’s the most Trektacular Time of the Year.” Find this song and more at Rick’s site right HERE. Well, enjoy your week folks and be back here next time when I will be covering the classic fantasy movie, “Legend.” Talk to you all then.
