Podcast # 368 – The Year, 1985 – 1201.29

This week I cover another great year of SF & Fantasy genre entertainment – 1985.  There were a ton of noteworthy films and some great TV this year to keep us geeks happy.  I start out the podcast giving a brief review of the latest “Underworld” film and also a few comments on the recent series finale of “Chuck.”  I also update everyone on the latest for the next Trek movie (now filming).  We also have a new contest this week  where you can win some great DVD sets from A&E.  The winner of the contest (listen to the podcast for details) will win both of the following items:

Frozen World: The Story of the Ice Age

Ancient Aliens: Season Three

Then on move on to the main topic – the year of 1985.  I have a lot of fond memories from the year 1985, and much of that is from the great entertainment from that time.  Things like the “Misfits of Science” tv show, “Amazing Stories”, the “Ladyhawke” film and of course, “Back to the Future.”  I chat about all of these and many more things from 1985.  We also have some great audio from Kenny, Will, and Rick about things they loved from that year too (thanks for that guys).  So, I hope everyone gets a kick out of this cool, retro podcast for this week.

I wrap up the show this time with a quick collectible review of a “Star Trek Wall Comm Panel.”  You can get this from Thinkgeek.com and it’s a great little item.  Hang it on your wall to signal and alarm you when folks walk by or make other cool sounds with it too.  A nice little collectible for your collection.  That’s all for this time out.  Tune in next week when guest hosts Bryan & Al will be covering the very first “Alien” movie for all of you.  Take care until then and enjoy your week ahead.
