Podcast # 433 – “Plato’s Stepchildren” – 1304.21

This week on the podcast we are back to a classic style show.  I begin the podcast with a discussion about the lastest “Star Trek Into Darkness” trailer that came out last week.  It’s an exciting trailer and we get quite a bit more information about the movie this time out.  I’m getting very excited to see this and the next 4 weeks or so are going to fly by I think.  I also talk briefly about the new Sci-Fi film, “Oblivion” that I saw just yesterday.  This is a cool movie and fun to see even if it does borrow some ideas and elements from other films and stories I have seen before.  Then I share some personal news about the new job I recently accepted an offer for that will start in a few weeks.  It’s going to be a pretty big change for me, but I’m excited about it all.  Then it’s on to the main topic for the podcast for this week.

The TOS episode “Plato’s Stepchildren” is an interesting and fun third season entry.  This is actually a favorite of mine from this season.  It tells the tale of the Platonians who are a genetically engineered group of aliens who have a very powerful telekinetic ability that allows them to control the crew of the Enterprise when they visit them to help.  I like a lot about this episode and we get to see some unusual things, like Spock singing and the famous scene of Captain Kirk kissing Uhura.  The guest star, Michael Dunn who plays Alexander is excellent too.  All in all, a cool episode and one I’m glad I finally got to cover for all of you.  I also play Rick Moyer’s comments that he sent in about this episode too.  Thanks Rick!

Then I wrap up the podcast with a look ahead for the next few weeks on the show.  I hope everyone liked this week’s podcast.  Make sure to tune in next weekend when Mark Daniels will return to guest host with a look at the classic, Sci-Fi film called, “Colossus:  The Forbin Project.”  Take care and enjoy the week ahead everyone.
