Podcast # 199 – “Bride of Chaotica!”

This week on the podcast I cover the fun “Voyager” episode from season five called “Bride of Chaotica!” It’s a cool tale involving more of Tom Paris as Captain Proton.  But the first part of the cast this week is devoted to some discussion about the brand new “Star Trek” movie trailer.  I saw the trailer with the new James Bond film yesterday and enjoyed them both.  With regards to the trailer I know there are going to be a lot of fans picking it apart over the next few months.  But for me it really worked.  I look at this as just a new spin on Trek and the characters we all love.  And of course the movie looks to have some incredible effects and an amazing look.  I’m even more excited now for May 2009 to get here.

The main part of the podcast this week is devoted to a full episode commentary on “Bride of Chaotica!” This episode is a great deal of fun to watch and I remember really enjoying it even the first time I saw it.  It is a neat homage to the old Sci-Fi serials of the 30’s like Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon.  It also lets us see some of the Voyager characters out of their normal element and uniforms.  Janeway especially gets to have some fun and get in on the action in this one.  We also get to meet another race of photonic lifeforms that contact the crew via the holodeck.  All in all this is a fun one to watch.  We also have another father & son review by the Moyer’s as well as a discussion on Trek holodecks by Mike (Feathers on the forum).  Thanks guys for sending those in.  I really appreciate it the efforts.

I wind down the podcast with a quick review of my latest cool Trek collectible.  It’s made by Master Replicas and it is the Mark IX Tricorder as seen on the TNG and so forth.  It has a very solid feel to it, lights up nicely and has awesome sound effects.  It comes with a very cool stand too.  Up above is a picture of it and if you click this image it will take you to the gallery where you can see more views of this neat piece.

That’s about it for this time out folks.  Don’t forget to send in your video’s for big show # 200 next weekend.  They are due by Friday, November 21st.  It’s going to be a real fun show to do as we move into the two hundreds for “Treks in Sci-Fi.”  See you all next week!
