As has been tradition, Vartok does a guest cast either at the end of the year or first one in the New Year. He is here this week with a super cool podcast all about the music from season 2 of “The Orville.” I love the series and Vartok does his usual great job giving us lots of background info. Owing to the influence of executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane, the music to the spacefaring series The Orville, Season 2, is more than just a backdrop.  The music is really a vital force that propels the narrative forward, adding layers of emotion, tension, and depth to the already captivating universe of The Orville.  Composers John Debney, Joel McNeely, and Andrew Cottee, along with Bruce Broughton who created the Main Title and End Title themes, showcased their musical prowess delivering a symphonic masterpiece as you take a sonic journey through the cosmos.  Vartok presents his analysis and provides examples in this one-hour tribute to The Music of the Orville Season 2.

This week it’s my annual Christmas vidcast. I look back on some of my favorite geek entertainment of the past year. There was a lot of great stuff in 2023. This week I do a full episode commentary for the first episode of season 3 of “Star Trek: Picard.” I first comment on the recent set of three “Doctor Who” specials and especially about the last and most recent one. Spoilers in the cast if you have not seen this yet. Then I move on to the Trek audio commentary. Really great to revisit this first episode of the final season of Picard. I forgot how much they crammed into this episode. It really does a great job at setting the stage for the whole season. Of course, we all loved season three and I had a great time watching and commenting on this one. More to come in the future.

Brand new, classic style show with a look at an episode from season 4 of “Star Trek: Enterprise.” First, I talk some about what I’ve been watching and other topics. By the way “Meg 2” was a lot of fun!

The episode “Observer Effect” is from season 4 and near the end of the series. It’s a cool “bottle-ship” episode with the crew dealing with a deadly virus while being observed by aliens who can inhabit a human host. Fun episode to watch with you and comment on.
