Holy frak! This might be the comic book movie I’ve been waiting to see. Big heroes, big epic battles, and great characters and stars in what promises to be a fantastic film. With Joss (“Firefly”) Whedon directing and in charge, I just know this is going to be a great film. The start of May can’t come soon enough. So check out this quick, but action packed trailer below that was shown during the Superbowl. So pumped!!
“Underworld: Awakening” – film
The next film in this series, “Underworld: Awakening” will be out on January 20th. I’m looking forward to seeing Kate Beckinsale back as the vampire Selene since she wasn’t in this last film in the series. This one looks to be a good step in the franchise and the action and scenes I have watched so far make it look like it’s going to be a great ride. And seeing Kate back in her black outfit doesn’t hurt either! You can also see this in 3-D and/or IMAX as well. So, get ready for some cool, kick-ass action on the big screen!
“Doctor Who” Christmas 2011
A brand new Christmas Special for 2011 will be out on Christmas Day for all the fans to watch and enjoy. I’ve come to really love this show over the past several years and these Christmas specials are a nice little treat to watch between seasons (or series as those in the UK call it). Matt Smith of course will be appearing as the Doctor and this story looks like a lot of fun. Watch the trailer below and make sure to set your TIVO’s and DVR’s to record this extra special Christmas present on December 25th!
Warehouse 13 & Eureka Christmas
Just like last year, two of the SyFy channel’s TV series are doing a Christmas special. “Warehouse 13” and “Eureka” both will be showing us the spirit of Christmas again in these brand new Christmas themed episodes. They will be showing first on Dec. 6th on the SyFy channel but I would guess will be rerun during the month. But make sure not to miss out and set your TIVO or DVR to record what are sure to be two very cool and fun episodes. Check out the sneak previews of both below and see what you have to look forward to!
“Breaking Dawn” – part 1
The next film in the “Twilight” series is out now in theaters. I know these movies get a bit of a bad rap and are sometimes thought as being only for teen girls, but I’ve enjoyed the films and I think they have gotten better and deeper with each one. This film is based on the final book in the series and is being broken into two parts. The second part won’t be out until around next year at this time, but for now we have the next film showing more about what happens with Edward, Bella, Jacob and the rest. Here’s a little preview below and check it out in theaters while you have time to see it. I think you might be surprised and find it better than you might think.
“Farscape” comes to Blu-Ray
One of my favorite Sci-Fi series is coming to Blu-Ray – finally. All four seasons of the cool series, “Farscape” will be released next month. You can buy season sets on their own, or do like I’m doing and buy the entire series in one set, all in awesome, hidef Blu-Ray. This ground breaking series has great characters, stories and special effects. So, make sure to pick up your sets and join Moya and her crew for a journey in the uncharted territories. I promise that you won’t be disappointed in this series. It’s awesome!
Update: A+E Home Entertainment is hiding 10 golden tickets around the New York Comic Con convention center and will unveil clues via their Twitter feed starting October 13th. Attendees who find the tickets can redeem them for Farscape: The Complete Series on Blu-ray before it’s available to the public!
“Star Wars” out on Blu-Ray
If you are a geek you already know about this. But finally we are getting all six “Star Wars” films on Blu-Ray. They were just released on Sept. 16th and I already picked up my set (like the rabid fanboy that I am). George Lucas also decided to make further tweaks and changes to his beloved franchise. I’m not quite sure why he keeps changing things all the time, but I’m hoping the extras and high quality picture and sound will overshadow any of the changes he put into the films. I’ve been reading about some of the alterations the last few weeks and frankly most of the changes seem like a bad idea and will do nothing to help the films. But of course, these are George’s babies and he can can tinker and tweak them for as long as he wants. In the meantime, check the little trailer out below and go pick up your set now. Because in a few years you know another “version” will be released and you will long for the good old “original Blu-Ray’s” when they first came out way back in 2011! LOL!
“Doctor Who” is back!
The good Doctor along with Amy and Rory are back for the second half of series 6 of this awesome TV show. If you have never seen “Doctor Who” you are truly missing out on one of the best TV series on the air right now. It has adventure, drama, comedy, excitement, and real emotion each and every week. The stories are brilliant and the cast is amazing. You really owe it to yourself to give it a try. Much of the recent years shows are all on Netflix now and I think you will really enjoy it. And if you have been watching like I have, we all know how great it is to be seeing our friends once again each week. A little preview clip below of this second half of the season (or series) of the amazing “Doctor Who.” It can be seen on BBC America each week on the same day episodes premiere in the UK. Enjoy!
