Summer Movies roll on

Harry Potter, Captain America, Cowboys & Aliens, etc. – this summer’s crop of movies just keeps going and going.  I’ve enjoyed just about all of the ones I have seen so far and have been especially happy with the last Potter film and “Captain America.”  I hope some of you are getting out to the movies not only to escape the summer heat but also to sit back and enjoy the great films that are out now.  Lots to pick from so go out and get watching them all!

“Transformers 3” is a hit

I enjoyed the latest “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” film when I saw it last weekend.  It’s a better movie than number two and that’s even still seeing it in a non-3D theater.  The script and acting are better and the action is really cool and fun.  Lots of giant robots beating each other up.  So if you want to escape the heat a little and have a fun, popcorn type of summer ride at the movies, go check out “Transformers 3” and I think you will enjoy it.  Check out one of the trailers below to see if it gets your interest going for this film.

“Super 8” is awesome!

I saw the new movie “Super 8” and I have to say, this movie was awesome.  From start to finish the new film by JJ Abrams pulls you in and tugs on a number of emotions.  It feels very much like one of the great movies made in the 80’s by Spielberg that follows a group of kids on a cool adventure.  There’s action, thrills, comedy, drama, and some scary moments that makes this my favorite film of the summer so far.  I urge everyone to go and see this one in theaters before you miss you chance.  The kids and acting are great, the story is cool and you’ll have a great time.  Watch the trailer below and see if it intrigues you.  Trust me, you won’t be disappointed in this movie.  Chances are you’ll want to go see it again!

“Pirates 4” has opened

I went and saw the new “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” film last weekend and enjoyed it.  Went to a new theater in town and it was a lot of fun to see Captain Jack once again on the big screen.  I kind of felt the last two Pirates films had become a bit overly complicated and strayed from some of the fun the first film had going for it.  This fourth outing seems to get back to more of the way the first film was done.  The plot is pretty simple and is just a big adventure and romp for Captain Jack trying to discover the Fountain of Youth.  So check out the preview below and go out to see this swashbuckling of a good time film before it sets sail to home video and Netflix!

“Thor” opens in theaters

The first really big, summer movie has opened.  “Thor” opened up in theaters everywhere yesterday and I got a chance to see it on opening day and really enjoyed it.  They do a good job of updating the character for modern times and Chris Hemsworth is terrific as the thunder god.  I also thought Natalie Portman was great in the movie too.  There’s plenty of action, some humor and just some great moments in this one.  I’m glad Marvel Pictures seems to be doing a great job lately turning their legendary comic book characters into movie franchises.  So grab some friends and family and go see it soon.  Preview below:

The Apes are Back!

The new “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” film is coming in August of this summer.  This movie has been kind of quiet on the promotion front, but things are gearing up now.  Several images have been released and the new full trailer is now out.  It seems to be set in modern times on Earth and shows some type of scientific experiments with apes that results in boosting their intelligence.  I’m kind of excited by what I’m seeing.  Check out the new trailer below and see what you think of it too.

“Green Lantern” footage

Footage from the “Green Lantern” movie that was previewed at “Wondercon” this weekend has been released online.  This is an abridged version of the footage shown at the convention but really gives us a good sense and feel for this movie I think.  I’m liking what I’m seeing and I think Ryan Reynolds is going to make a great Hall Jordan/Green Lantern.  The movie is out in mid June and I’m certain I’ll be there to see it on opening weekend.  I think you should be there too!  Check it out:

“Cosplay with my Heart”

This College Humor site video has been out a little while, but I just saw it today for the first time.  It’s really awesome.  For all of us geeks, this video is the ultimate fantasy.  Having a cute girlfriend who likes to dress up as various geeky characters.  But perhaps she enjoys it a bit too much and even more than the guy in this video.  Very funny and very cool stuff here.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
