Probably the most expensive movie ever made (over $300 million) has now opened in theaters everywhere. This amazing film by James Cameron has been many years in the making and has some amazing CGI work in it. The critics and the public both seem to be enjoying the movie a great deal. I got a chance to go see it on opening day and I really was blown away. It’s a gorgeous looking movie and has a nice message and a lot of heart in it. I urge everyone to go see this one in the theaters. I think you will all really enjoy it. Check out the trailer below:
“Clash of the Titans” remake
A cool, teaser trailer for the upcoming remake of this classic film is out. I am a big fan of the original movie and this film looks to have a lot going for it. I like the cast and the effects and CGI of course look amazing. As long as the story is told well and they give the movie some heart and good emotion, I’ll be there on March 26th, 2010 when this opens in theaters. “Chuck” returns in early January
Finally, season three of the cool, fun and sexy TV show “Chuck” will be starting up this January on NBC. I’ve really enjoyed the last two seasons of this series and find the cast to be excellent and a lot of fun to watch. I’m hoping even with the shorter season three we are getting that “Chuck” can hang on and be back for a season four too. Here’s some more info and a preview video of the coming season courtesy of trekmovie.com.
Chuck Return Announced: Sunday, January 10, 2010
Set your calendars, NBC has announced that “Chuck” will return in January, 2010 for a three-episode/two-night third season premiere. The third season will kick-off on Sunday, January 10th with two back-to-back episodes from 9:00-11:00 p.m. before settling into its old timeslot — Monday’s at 8:00 p.m. — the following night. So far, NBC has committed to 19 episodes for the third season (the initial 13-episode order plus an additional 6-episode order they made last month). In other news, the producers have tapped yet another high-profile actor to guest star. EW reports that Robert Patrick (“Terminator 2: Judgment Day”) is slated to appear midway through the third season. Patrick will play Col. Keller, “a mysterious figure from Casey’s past” in the episode “Chuck Versus the Tic Tac”, which is expected to focus on Adam Baldwin. Look below for a brand new season three poster, special preview video and on-set interviews with star Zack Levi and guest star Brandon Routh.
Katee Sackhoff on BBT
Actress Katee Sackhoff is guesting on “The Big Bang Theory” next month in November. Two of my favorite things together in one show – I’m not sure I can take it! The episode is set to air on November 23rd and is suppose to have Katee playing herself as Wolowitz’s fantasy woman (good taste). “The Big Bang Theory” has had a number of ‘geek’ centered guest stars and most recently had Wil Wheaton on the show. I like this little trend and any way to see more of Katee is fine with me. But in 2010 we will get to see even more of the former Starbuck when she joins the new season of the hit TV series, “24.” Another favorite of mine and a good match. Can’t wait!
Makazie One – SW Fanfilm
Here’s a new, and really terrific “Star Wars” fan film. The story is set between Episode III and IV and is one of the best fan films I have ever seen. The story is solid, the production values are excellent. I was quite impressed by this piece of work. One thing also is the editing is very tight and the film is only about 16 minutes long and tells a good story in that time. Make sure to check out their website HERE to learn more about the film and be able to get a DVD of it soon and more. I can’t say enough about how impressed I was by this work. Watch it right now, below.
“Stargate: Universe” starts
Tonight (Oct. 2nd) begins the latest series in the “Stargate” TV franchise, “Stargate: Universe.” This series looks slightly similar in concept to “Star Trek: Voyager” with a group of explorers ending up stranded in a distant part of the universe. Of course, I’m just going by some of the previews I have seen. They also seem to be amping up the drama and making it a bit reminiscent of the new “Battlestar Galactica” series. If they do a good job bringing these elements together, this could be a very cool show. Tonight there is a two hour season premiere. Check your local listings and tune in. Trailer below:
Fall 2009 TV rolling
The Fall, 2009 TV season is rolling. A great deal of cool stuff to watch right now and more on the way. New genre shows such as: “Flash Forward”, “The Vampire Diaries”, “Eastwick”, “Stargate: Universe”, “V”, and others look pretty cool so far. And don’t forget about returning favorites like: “Heroes”, “Fringe”, “Dollhouse”, and “Smallville.” But, perhaps one of the shows I am looking forward to the most is the next season of “Dexter”, starting this coming Sunday on Showtime. My son got me hooked on this show and I loved the first three seasons. This coming season looks to be great as well. So fire up your TIVO or other DVR and get ready for some great TV viewing the next few months. Here’s a neat little video for “Dexter” (doesn’t really give away anything for the season). Enjoy!
“9” movie opens, 9-9-09
The movie “9” will be opening in a few days on the appropriate date of 9-9-09 in theaters. This looks like a fantastic, animated film and I am looking forward to seeing it. Details below:
Produced by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov, the film features the voices of Elijah Wood, John C. Reilly, Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau, Christopher Plummer and Crispin Glover. When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world. All humans are gone, and it is only by chance that he discovers a small community of others like him taking refuge from fearsome machines that roam the earth intent on their extinction. Despite being the neophyte of the group, 9 convinces the others that hiding will do them no good. They must take the offensive if they are to survive, and they must discover why the machines want to destroy them in the first place. As they’ll soon come to learn, the very future of civilization may depend on them.
