A Treksinscifi forum member found this amazing collection of mainly Star Wars collectibles online. The owner’s name is Cho Woong and he must be very well off to be able to afford all of the cool items I see in his collection via the pictures in his blog HERE. Below is just a sample of some of his stuff and extremely nice displays. And I thought I had a reasonable sized collection of things. Not even close to this guy. May the force be with you – Cho!
“The Guild” music video
Felicia Day and “The Guild” gang did this awesome music video called, “Do You Want to Date My Avatar” awhile back. It’s really well done, the lyrics are great and the whole cast looks like they had a ball doing it. You can get the song on Amazon.com too. And don’t miss season three of “The Guild” when it starts next week online on MSN.
Swedish play SF Music
This is quite awesome. The Swedish national wind band plays “Where No Man Has Gone Before” by Paul Jenkins. Included songs: “Star Trek Theme” by Alexander Courage, “CanYou Read My Mind?”, “Cantina Band”, “Star Wars Main Title” by John Williams. Conductor: Nils-Gunnar Burlin. Live recording from Kalmar Concert hall, July 28th, 2009.
Comic Con 2009
The biggest yearly media event just took place this past weekend in San Diego. That of course was Comic Con, 2009 edition. A ton of stuff was shown and talked about. Some of the highlights I could see via the web was Johnny Depp showing up (see above) to talk about “Alice in Wonderland” with director Tim Burton. A cool panel on “Iron Man 2”, a Trek panel discussion, all the cast of “The Guild” there in costumes for a great panel discussion and a whole lot more. There’s a nice round up of what went on HERE, and a cool gallery of pictures HERE. One of these years (maybe next year even), I’ll get myself out to this. Until then, we have lots of web coverage to view from the biggest con of the year. Here’s another nice gallery of pics below:
New “Harry Potter” opens
The latest film in the successful series, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” opened in theaters everywhere just a few days ago on July 15th. It has already made a great deal of money and may turn out to be the most money making movie of the franchise so far (and they all have done very well). I saw this a few days ago and enjoyed it greatly. Everyone is back and in great form. It’s like seeing old friends again that you’ve missed for a couple of years. The story, acting, look, and action is all top-notch stuff. I urge all Potter fans to grab their broomsticks and race out to see this latest movie as soon as possible. You’ll love it!
“Sci-Fi” channel becomes “SyFy”
The former “Sci-Fi” channel has changed their name to “SyFy” now. The name change seems a bit silly, but perhaps this will begin a new era of some new and interesting programming. There is a rumor they are wanting another space opera type of series to replace “Battlestar Galactica.” Could a new “Star Trek” series someday end up on “SyFy?” Time will tell. In the meantime, the cool new series “Warehouse 13” has started and “Eureka” returns tonight on the channel (now on Friday’s). As a promotion for the name change they made this cool music video featuring some of the stars of their various series. Really well done, I think (music by Goldfrapp). Enjoy!
Transformers 2 opens!
“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” opened yesterday and I went to see it. I thought it was great fun! A true, summer action movie. Lots of cool robot action, a nice little story and just a blast to watch. If you enjoyed the first one, I’m certain you will like this one too. So go see it soon with a good crowd to cheer on the Autobots!
Warcraft Mt. Dew Ad
I’m a big fan of the MMO, “World of Warcraft.” There are two new Mt. Dew flavors out now, one for the Alliance and one for the Horde. The folks over at Mt. Dew and Blizzard have come up with this awesome ad to showoff their new flavors – and have some fun. so go grab some cool new Mt. Dew and play some WOW too.
