“Kick-Ass 2” – Now Playing

If you love comics and maybe saw the first film in this series back in 2010 you should run out and see this new one too.  Lots of fun, over the top action and just lots of cool stuff that makes it a very fun summer movie.  Just about all the characters are back again and this movie really kicks some ass.  Check out the TV spot trailer below and run out to your theaters to check out this latest, cool summer film!

‘Star Wars’ Medley – with Lindsey & Peter

This is an awesome “Star Wars” Medley with Lindsey Stirling (violin) and Peter Hollens (vocals).  I love the stuff Lindsey does and this is really terrific.  The production and the music and vocals are all amazing.  It’s such a great, geeky piece to watch and enjoy.  Plus they seem to have a blast doing these things.  Watch and enjoy below!

Actor Peter Capaldi is the 12th Doctor!

The BBC announced live today that actor Peter Capaldi will be taking over from Matt Smith as the 12th Doctor on the long running “Doctor Who” British Sci-Fi series now in it’s 50th year.  An interesting choice as Matt Smith was the youngest doctor and now they are going with someone older.  It’s an exciting time to be a Who fan.  I’m looking forward to seeing how this new actor plays this classic character.  I’m sure it will be interesting and cool to watch.  He will appear later this year for the first time playing Doctor Who for all of us to see.

Comic Con 2013

Lots of fun was had at the recent San Diego Comic Con 2013.  Several pretty big announcements came out too.  First, the next “Superman” film to include Batman was pretty big news.  Sounds like this is going to be more than a cameo too.  Also, the next Avengers film got a title, “Avengers: Age of Ultron.”  I like this idea a lot even if it doesn’t have much to do with the recent comic mini-series.  Also lots of trailers, video and other cool stuff was talked about and seen – not to mention all the great cosplay outfits.  Check out some of the con video highlights via Youtube below of some of the fun that was had at this amazing show (that I really need to get to one of these years).

“The Lone Ranger” is fun!

So, don’t listen to the official movie critics – listen to me!  “The Lone Ranger” is a fun movie.  It’s got lots of great action, Johnny Depp is great as Tonto and it’s just a fun western movie that we don’t get enough of these days.  Sometimes I’ve heard some people say too many film heroes have gotten all dark, grim and moody – well not this ranger guy.  Plus, there is some beautiful scenery and the horse, Silver is amazing.  Anyway, if you want a fun, popcorn style summer movie go give this a try.  I think you might like it too.

“Man of Steel” soars at the box office

After only a little more than a week, the new “Man of Steel” movie has pulled in over $350 million worldwide at the box office.  I enjoyed the movie quite a bit and I think this is a great start for DC on their way to a full comic book franchise of films (like Marvel has done).  This is a movie you have to see on the big screen.  It’s an amazing piece of cinema and even though I have a few little quibbles, it’s still a very good film.  So go see this latest version of Superman, while you can in the theaters.

“Game of Thrones” – season 3

The big finale of season three of “Game of thrones” airs on June 9th.  It’s been a wild ride this season so far (especially the last episode right before the finale).  I’ve had my ups and downs with this series since it’s a tough show to watch, but I’m looking forward to seeing how things end up for some of the characters.  Check out the preview below for the season three ending.  Looks to be pretty spectacular.

“Avengers Assemble”

A new animated Avengers TV series gets a preview this weekend on the Disney channel.  This seems to follow the team and overall format of last summer’s blockbuster film.  The roster of heroes looks nearly the same and some of the voice talent looks really good too.  The series starts it’s regular run this July, but you can see a preview this weekend of it on TV.  Learn more about this cool new series HERE.
