“Star Wars Detours”

This looks to be a hilarious cartoon series brought to us by the “Robot Chicken” team.  It looks like Lucasfilm has teamed up a little with them and gone all out for this very funny series.  I am not quite sure at this time when it will be premiering on cable (or maybe the web), but I will keep an eye out for it.  But for now you can follow them on Facebook HERE and watch a couple of their previews below.  Enjoy the fun!

“Warehouse 13” and “Alphas” are back

The SyFy channel has started airing new episodes of the very cool “Warehouse 13” and also “Alphas.”  Both series are a lot of fun to watch and I’m happy to have new episodes of cool Sci-Fi to see each week on the SyFy channel. I’m especially fond of “Warehouse 13” and very interested to see where this season takes us after the cliffhanger ending we were left with.  “Alphas” is a cool series about people with special abilities and powers in the same vein as “Heroes” was.  Give them both a shot if you haven’t ever tried them yet.  They air on Monday nights in the US, so check your local listings if you live elsewhere.

“The Dark Knight Rises” begins

The final movie in the recent Batman trilogy, “The Dark Knight Rises” has now opened and I saw it and enjoyed it a lot.  The movie has some great moments and does a fantastic job of wrapping things up for the Dark Knight.  This is another of the summer films that really needs to be seen in the theater.  I especially enjoyed Anne Hathaway as the new Catwoman in this movie.  So, grab some friends and go check out the latest adventures of the Batman, playing in theaters right now.

“The Amazing Spider-Man” is truly Amazing

I saw this new Marvel comic book film and loved it.  Andrew Garfield is terrific as Peter Parker & Spider-Man and Emma Stone is equally terrific as his love interest Gwen Stacey.  Even though it hasn’t been that long since the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire films came out, I think this one tops them to a degree.  The story is solid and the movie is paced very well.  I went to see it on opening day and I already want to go back again.  Don’t let this one slip by – go see it in the theater.  And since it’s making good money, I’m sure a couple of sequels will be on the way soon.  Go Spidey!

Wil Wheaton’s “Tabletop” web series

There is a cool web series out hosted by Wil Wheaton where he shows us how to play various awesome, and geeky tabletop games.  He usually has various celebrities on playing the game with him and explaining the rules and so forth.  It’s a great concept for a show and can be found on the awesome Felicia Day’s “Geek and Sundry” Youtube channel HERE.  I’ll post the preview video below and also a couple videos of the first episodes.  Make sure to give this a look and find out about some cool games you should be playing!

Paramount’s 100th Anniversary Photo

An amazing photo was recently taken to help celebrate Paramount Picture’s 100th Anniversary.  This picture features the cast of the 2009 “Star Trek” movie and many other Trek stars and amazing celebrities.  Click the images below to see it larger and watch the video to see how this amazing picture was taken in one sitting with all these stars.  Amazing picture and it’s in the recent issue of Vanity Fair magazine.

Geekiest Home Theaters

I have a pretty nice basement that’s finished off with a nice HDTV and some cool props and toys.  But it doesn’t come close to what some of these folks have done to create some of the Geekiest Home Theaters around.  Of course some of these cost up into the millions, but you could certainly put something cool together for just a few thousand dollars and some work and effort on your part.  So, take a look at the beautiful theaters in the article right HERE and start drawing up your own plans to make into a reality a theater of your own that you can enjoy!

“TRON: Uprising” – new animated series

A cool new animated series is starting based on the TRON films called “TRON: Uprising.”  I’ve seen the first episode and really liked it.  This is done in a serious style and the animation is great.  The pilot episode is out now for viewing and the series will officially start in June with a first season of 18 episodes.  Read more about it below and check out the pilot episode too.  I think you will enjoy what you see!

Synopsis:

Beck is a young program who becomes the skillful leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid. Tron will not only teach Beck the fighting and light cycle skills he needs to challenge this brutal military occupation, but he will be a guide and mentor to him as he grows beyond his youthful, impulsive nature into a courageous, powerful, strong leader. Destined to become the next Tron of the system, Beck adopts Tron’s persona and becomes the archenemy of General Tesler and his oppressive forces.
