Podcast # 297 – “Legend of the Seeker” – 1009.19

This weekend on the podcast I cover the excellent fantasy series, “Legend of the Seeker.” I have been wanting to cover this cool show for awhile now, so this week I do just that.  First, I cover a little Trek news and other things related to upcoming podcasts.  Don’t forget, the hosting costs are due for the site this month.  If you feel like donating, just click HERE or any of the Paypal links on the site.  Every donation will be greatly appreciated.  After a bit more discussion about the fall TV season that’s now starting, I get on to the main topic.

The syndicated TV series, “Legend of the Seeker” only lasted two seasons but it quickly became one of my favorite shows and maybe my favorite fantasy series ever for TV.  It’s about the story of Richard Cypher and his quest to rid the land of tyrants and evil.  He is aided in his quest by a wizard (Zedd) and the beautiful Kahlan.  Together along with other companions, they work to restore peace to their world and end evil where ever they find it.  This beautiful series was filmed in New Zealand and is one of the most beautifully filmed TV shows I have ever seen (especially in HD).  I mainly go through the first pilot episode and fill you in on the main characters, storyline and setting.  I tried very hard not to spoil anything for those who haven’t watched this show yet.  So, if you are a fan of fantasy, romance, and great action and adventure, make sure to find this show and watch it for yourself.  I know you will enjoy it greatly.

Next weekend I will be doing a Skype call on Saturday, September 25th at 2pm, Central time and chat about fall TV and movies, mainly.  Anyone that wants to join in, is most welcome.  Take care until then.

  1. Hi Rico,

Minor spoilers below (for those who are new to the show):
It was a good podcast, I liked it, the intro was very funny, but I’m a bit disappointed because you haven’t mentioned Cara and Tabrett at all. You could have said here in the description that near the end you’ll talk about some further details or something like that. I searched for more mentions of the show here but only found one other podcast where you talked about S2, the finale, but didn’t say much in that one.
I liked the first season, watched it in 2 or 3 days, but the second is so much better, and most of that is thanks to Cara, played brilliantly by Tabrett Bethell, at least that’s how I see it. The show really needed to be shaken up by her, the others were too good, always doing what they thought was right. Cara’s character took the throne of favourite female character from Kira Nerys after one season, the writers did an excellent job. Well, right until Eternity, they seriously messed up the last two episodes…

Will you make another podcast about the show that goes into more details? Perhaps discussing character developments, plotlines, favourite episodes and such.

  2. I didn’t want to put out too many details since the show is still fairly recent. My goal was to entice people who have not watched the series to try it out. It would be almost impossible to give out more details without spoiling the series for many. It’s a fine line, but that was the way I wanted to approach this podcast. I may in the future do another covering more, but this was meant as a brief overview and introduction.

  3. OMG THANKS FOR DOING A LEGEND OT THE SEEKER PODCAST, THIS SHOW IS AMAZING !
HANDS DOWN MY FAVORITE TV SHOW EVER, I CANT BELIEVE IT GOT CANCELED I’M SO UPSET OVER THAT !

I’m in the middle of reading the books now and they’re not on spot with the show which doesn’t bother me but for other people to know they have kept the characters they same even tho they do different things.
There’s so many great things about this show, you touched up on most of them without much detail so you didn’t give it away. But I really adore Richard and Kahlan, their characters are just so well created and BIG props to Craig and Bridget they’re amazing people off and on camera. Bridget has a twitter, I cant remember if you mentioned that, but she is really nice and she’s even helping raise money for this charity for Haiti right now. She also has a movie coming out soon called the Best and the Brightest and is producing a musical called Camp Wanatachi.
Kinda got off topic but yeah I just really love the show and I hope it comes back. The Seeker fandom has been working hard on the ‘Save Our Seeker’ campaign and donations; there’s been ads in the Hollywood Reporter and the Daily Variety. You can see everything here at http://www.saveourseeker.com/
The fandom just has some really amazing creative people and if you mention the website somewhere that would be really helpful. Also if you wanted to know Season 2 comes out in 3 days so were really tryin to get a lot of people to buy it because it might help change their mind about the cancellation.

Thanks so much for doing the podcast, its always fun to find new seeker fans out there. And thanks for reading my super long comment. 😀
