Hello all and welcome to 2008 – the year of the next “STAR TREK” movie! Woo-hoo!! First, I want to thank those that sent in new intro’s for the podcast. I used a couple this week and have a few more to use on future shows. Thanks and keep them coming! I start this weekend’s podcast out discussing a few bits of Trek movie news – as normal. It seems many of JJ Abrams old actor friends want a part in the Trek movie (I mean – who wouldn’t). Jennifer Garner (of “Alias” fame) seems to want to have a cameo as a klingon. I think that would be pretty cool. I wonder if she would be the ‘bumpy forehead’ type or not? Anyway, filming on the movie continues until early spring. I then move on and do a short dramatic reading from the RPG story going on over in the Treks in Sci-Fi Forums. I plan on doing this most weeks to give folks a taste of the great writing going on there. Then it’s on to doing my full audio commentary for this weekend’s Trek episode, “Future Imperfect.” This is a great fourth season episode that focuses mainly on Riker. He awakes to a future, 16 years past what he knows. He is now captain of the Enterprise and many things have changed. Not the least of which is he has a son. This episode features some standout performances from the cast, especially Jonathan Frakes as Riker who has the hard task of dealing with the changes around him. He has no memory of the past years and has to try and come to grips with all the changes that have happened. Of course there is more to this story than meets the eye. It was fun going through the whole episode and giving you my take and views on it. Hope you enjoyed the discussion. We also get to hear from our friends the Moyer’s once more and a father & son review of the episode. Thanks as always guys.
I finish out the show with a quick collectible review. I look at the Master Replicas made Darth Sidious lightsaber. This of course was used and seen in Episode III, “Revenge of the Sith” which I discussed last weekend. It’s a very cool and well built item. The saber has quite a unique look and not like most of the other lightsabers seen in “Star Wars.” Click the picture to see more views of it in my gallery.
