Podcast # 159 – “Second Skin”

I’m back podcasting after taking a very rare (1st time) week off last time due to being sick. This weekend we focus on another good DS9 episode.

First, sorry I missed last weekend’s podcast folks. Couldn’t help it. Had a bit of a bug and it really knocked me out. But I’m back this week with a fun packed show. The main topic is the “Deep Space Nine” episode called “Second Skin” from season three. It’s a cool episode and we will discuss that shortly. First I pass on some of the usual Trek movie news. Filming continues and a few new cast members have been hired. Some to play a very young Kirk and Spock. This movie promises to show us aspects and time frames of our favorite classic Trek heroes we haven’t seen before. Kenny from California checks in with a three part report from the “Star Trek Tour” now set up in the Long Beach area in California. This looks to be a great show and I can’t wait to see it. Vartok also checks in with another music entry. This time about a special “Borg” CD he picked up. Good stuff and thanks for the contributions guys.

Then we continue on with the podcast and begin our look at the DS9 episode, “Second Skin.” This is a great character episode, but with plenty of action and excitement too. It mainly focuses on Major Kira and her capture by the Cardassians. She is made to look like them and they try to convince her she is one of them. It’s an intriguing and interesting episode and well worth a look if you haven’t seen it in awhile. Our favorite DS9 tailor Garak pops in for quite a few good moments as well. I have the episode showing in the Sci-Fi theater for the next few days. Head on over and check it out if you are a forum member. I wrap up the podcast this weekend with a look at a recent collectible that I picked up. It’s a Buffy diorama and made by Diamond Select. It’s called the “Essence of Buffy” and depicts her slaying a typical vampire. One neat thing about this piece is that it lights up. I think they did a great job at capturing the likeness of the Buffy character and the paint job is great. They are doing a few of these in the series of dioramas from the show. Pretty neat stuff!
