This week’s podcast features a special show recorded LIVE in front of a web cam audience. Download the show HERE, or use the link at the bottom of this post. Well, it’s hard to believe it’s been three years since I started this little podcast idea called “Treks in Sci-Fi.” But it’s been really great. I’ve gotten to know so many great people from doing the show and on the forum. You all are the best and keep me doing this week after week. I don’t do a lot of nostalgia on this week’s podcast but I did just want to say it’s been a lot of fun and there’s much more to come! I slide a little commentary and news into the show as I discuss my sadness at the cancellation of “Stargate: Atlantis.” This is a terrific show and deserves more than the five seasons it’s getting. At least we will be getting some DVD movies – they say. Also, “Eureka” has been very good this season too. Give both of these a chance if you haven’t yet. I also talk a little about the next “Star Trek: New Voyages” episode project called “Blood & Fire.” They just released a YouTube video trailer and you can see it now HERE. It’s looking great and they are due to release part one of it in October. I can’t wait!
Then it’s time for the main topic – Star Trek TV series music! Way back on Podcast # 80 I covered music from TOS Trek and the Trek movies. But now it’s time to do more. This week I play clips and talk very briefly about the music from the rest of the Trek series out there. From TNG to Enterprise, I play just a little bit from each and pass on some background information. I wish more CD’s were released of music from the various series. Most of what I had to play was from the pilot episodes with a little bit from later on. But I think it was fun to cover this topic again and play some great tunes!
There were also a couple of fun LIVE contests this week with Star Trek trivia questions. That was fun and congrats to the winners!
For the last part of this week’s show, I talk about and showed off to the web cam folks a unique prop replica I have. It’s a replica of the fortress crystal that Lex Luthor gets in the movie “Superman Returns.” It was a project done by a user named Hydin over on the Replica Prop Forum. It’s very accurate and made of real crystal – not plastic or simple glass. I like having unique items like this and enjoy sharing them with all of you. Click the picture here to see more views of it.
That’s about it for this special podcast folks. Thanks to all those that contributed to this week’s show and everyone that helps me out, week after week with the site and forum, etc. Tune in next week when I will be covering the two-part Voyager episode, “Future’s End.”
Loved the live podcasts.. it’s always a blast to watch you in action Rico.. another fantastic live show. And the prop was very cool.. I was bummed to hear it’s production was very limited.
Thanks Kenny. Always fun to do!
Great show Rico! Loved the laughter, information and the excellent music! This is why I keep listening every week, cause it gets better and better!
This latest show was outstanding, as always! Three years in and STILL RUNNING STRONG.
Happy anniversary, and thanks for putting out such a consistently entertaining and informative podcast. Q’plah!
Entertaining as ever…even though I only managed to catch the ‘recorded’ version rather than the live.
It has always surprises me just how much original music is required for a television show, thanks for looking at a little more detail into that aspect of things.
