Podcast # 872 – “The Orville” – 2208.14

This week it’s my first solo show in awhile and I cover “The Orville.” I start off talking in general about recent movies and TV (including that “Prey” movie everyone seems to be talking about). Then on to the main topic.

I’ve watched “The Orville” since it started on Fox back in 2017 (around the same time “Star Trek: Discovery” began). I’ve found it to be a great show and the most reason season is fantastic! It’s also now on the Disney+ streaming service so more can see it too. This is a very “Star Trek” like series and I think any Trek or SF fan would enjoy it. Give it a try if you haven’t checked it out yet.

Next week Jedi Jeff returns with a show about collectibles. Until next time, take care of yourselves and enjoy your week ahead.

Podcast # 871 – “SDCC 2022 Party” – 2208.07

This week I have Dylan with me on the podcast who I met at SDCC. We both were fortunate enough to be able to attend the “10 Forward” VIP cocktail party on Saturday night at the con. And we were shocked when many celebrities from various “Star Trek” series showed up along with some folks from “The Orville” and others too. What a great night it was and I chatted all about it with Dylan over Skype. We also talked some about the con in general as well. It was a lot of fun to reminisce about this special night with someone else who was also there. Hope you enjoy our talk.

Next week might be a new show or a rerun – still working out the schedule for the month. But until next time stay well and enjoy your week.

Podcast # 869 – “Soldier” – 2207.17

This week Mark Daniels is back with a look at another classic episode from “The Outer Limits.” Here are some words from the man himself on his latest guest cast.

Hello Everybody! This is Mark Daniels from The Great Pacific Northwest.  I’m back this week with some more classic science fiction.  Today I’ll review an episode of “The Outer Limits.”  The episode is “Soldier,” starring Lloyd Nolan, Tim O’Connor and Michael Ansara.  This is a classic time travel episode similar to James Cameron’s The Terminator.  So similar that Harlan Ellison sued the producers of the film for plagiarism.   This is a great episode of “The Outer Limits!”  I hope you all enjoy it. I’ll be back soon with some more classic science fiction. Until then…Everyone take and enjoy your workweek! This is M-5 signing Off…

Big thanks for covering this classic story from this classic TV series. Next weekend I’ll be out at San Diego Comic Con after 3 long years. Keep an eye on the TSF Facebook group for pics and posts. And for even more exclusive stuff from SDCC, just join the TSF Patreon group to support the show and the content.

My next official show with be on July 31st and a vidcast covering SDCC. Until next time, take and enjoy the weeks ahead.

Podcast # 868 – “Strange New Worlds” S1 – 2207.10

With season one now over, I got together with Chris & Joe on Skype to discuss all of season one of the series. It’s a wild podcast and cover a lot of ground and topics (with spoilers too). What we thought of the series, the characters, the look, the stories, all of it. Simply put we are all pretty pleased and impressed with this most recent “Star Trek” series. So tune in for a fun conversation about this cool series. Alos, check out Chris and Joe’s “Journey to Wonder” podcast too.

Next week will be a guest cast or repeat show. In two weeks I’ll be at San Diego Comic Con 2022! Until next time, enjoy the week ahead.

Podcast # 867 – Alternate Universes – 2207.03

Fun concept to discuss this week – alternate or parallel universe. I first cover the recent TV and movies I’ve been watching before hitting the main topic. I have a pretty deep discussion about the concept of alternate or parallel universes. The basic concept which is, what if each decision or choice you make creates an alternate universe that would lead to an infinite number of universe. It’s fun to think about and has been used in SF TV, movies, and books for some time. I’m reading a great book right now called “Dark Matter” by Blake Crouch that is fiction but uses this concept well in the story. I also found a listing on IMDB of various films with this concept and also where time travel is involved sometimes too. Lots of fun stuff to consider and watch.

Next week I am planning to do a group chat and cover season 1 of “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” with some friends. Until next time, a big Happy 4th of July to my fellow Americans and stay safe and well this week.

Podcast # 866 – “Firefly” Chat – 2206.19

This week I had a chat with my friend Jen from the Anomaly Podcast and talked all about “Firefly.” We talked about the TV series and our thoughts on that and some of the episodes. Then we talk some about the “Firefly” books Jen has read and the “Firefly” comics I have read and recommend. The main point this week was to share the info about other sources for fun “Firefly” stuff even if the show is gone now. Big thanks to Jen for joining me for this one.

Next weekend will probably be a repeat show or a guest cast. Also Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there. Until next time, keep flying and stay shiny!

Podcast # 865 – PATREON CHAT – 2206.12

It’s been a few months but I’m back with another Patreon Chat. Being a busy time of year it was just me, Jedi Jeff and Doug this time out. We talk basically about “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds” and also the “Obi-Wan Kenobi” series – both now streaming. There are some slight spoilers in this podcast if you are not caught up on there shows (and you should be). Really fun conversation and always nice to have co-hosts with me on the podcast. Big thanks to Jeff and Doug for joining me on a weekend Saturday when we recorded yesterday.

Next week the plan is to get Jen from the Anomaly Podcast to join me for a “Firefly” discussion which should be a lot of fun. Until next time take care and enjoy the nice, summer weather.
