Podcast # 689 – 2017-18 TV season – 1807.01

This week it’s a pretty casual podcast.  I mainly talk about the past 2017-18 TV series.  I first start out talking about a few general topics and other things and a little about the upcoming San Diego Comic Con which I will be attending for the first time in about 3 weeks from now.  Then I move on to the main topic of TV.

I follow and watch a lot of network TV still.  I was brought up that way and I like the way of watching TV on a weekly basis – I’m not a binger at all and can’t really consume entertainment that way.  So, I talk about most of my favorite shows from the just finished TV season.  Everything from “Flash” and “Supergirl” to “Legion” and “Mr. Robot.”  I cover a wide range of mainly geek oriented TV.  I forgot a few to mention (like the excellent series “The Magicians” and “The Expanse) but I cover most of what I was watching.  Hope you enjoy my comments and maybe try one or two of the shows I mention that you haven’t tried out yet.

That’s about it for this week.  Next week will be a guest cast.  Until next time stay cool and Happy 4th of July to my friends in the USA!

Podcast # 688 – “Lost in Space” – 1806.24

This week is something a bit different – a rerun from 2007!  Back then I did a podcast about the original “Lost in Space” series from the 1960’s.  With the cool, new Netflix series I thought it was a good time to rerun this old show.  If you already heard it way back then – well, no need to listen again.  But, it is kind of fun to listen to one of my much older and much earlier days podcasts.  Anyway – enjoy it!

Next weekend I think I’ll be doing a show wrapping up the past TV season.  There was some good stuff to watch on network TV, Netflix, CBS All-Access and so on.  Tune in next week to listen in to what I thought of this past year’s TV.

Podcast # 687 – “Lessons” – 1806.17

This week it’s a classic style show with a look at recent geeky stuff and a TNG episode commentary.  I start off with talking about upcoming cons I will be attending (like San Diego in July) and also hopefully next year’s Star Wars celebration convention in Chicago too.  I talk a little about recent TV & movies and then it’s on to the Trek episode for this week.

I like the TNG episode “Lessons” quite a lot.  It’s a love story episode about Picard and one of his crew but it’s handled very well, if not a bit too quickly.  It has some nice character moments and the guest star, late actress Wendy Hughes is especially good as Nella Daren.  I enjoyed watching this one quite a bit again and I comment as I play it for all of you.

After the Trek episode I play a special musical moment treat by Vartok about the music from “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”  Thanks Vartok!

That’s about all for this week.  Next week should be a guest cast.  Until next time stay cool and enjoy your week!

Podcast # 686 – “Attack of the 50ft. Woman” – 1806.10

This week Mark is back with another cool cult classic film from 1958.  I’ll let him tell you more about his latest guest podcast.

Hello Everybody!

This is Mark Daniels from the Great Pacific Northwest!  I’m back this week with another classic science fiction movie.  Today’s  movie is “Attack of the 50 Foot Woman.”  This movie is a Sci-Fi B-movie classic.  It stars Allison Hayes, William Hudson and Yvette Vickers. This movie is one of those movies that are so bad, they are good!  Bad dialog and horrible special effects only make this classic better!  I hope everyone enjoys it!

I’ll be back soon with another classic science fiction movie!

Until then…
Everyone take care…
This is M-5 signing off…

Thanks again Mark for another great guest podcast and a look at this fun movie.  You can support the podcast on PATREON HERE.

Next weekend I’ll be back with a look at a TNG episode called, “Lessons.”  Until next time take care and enjoy your week ahead.

Podcast # 685 – “A Solo Trio” – 1806.03

This week it’s a great show for you as I got together with Joe (from the Upper Memory Block Podcast) and Angela (from the Anomaly Podcast) over Skype to talk in depth about the new “Solo: A Star Wars Story” film that is now playing.  We talk about what we enjoyed about the film and give you our thoughts about why this really is a fun “Star Wars” film that every fan should see in the theater.  There are spoilers in this show so you have been warned.  Really a fun chat with my friends about this latest film in the “Star Wars” saga and a big thanks to them for joining me.  Make sure to check out their podcasts too.

Vidcast # 684 – Motor City Comic Con 2018 – 1805.27

This week it’s a big vidcast (down below) about the 2018 Motor City Comic Con that took place last weekend over May 18-20 in Novi, Michigan.  I talk a little about the new “Solo – A Star Wars Story” movie (no spoilers) and a few other things before I talk about the convention.  I include a music video that I did featuring video and pictures I took at the con and talk about what I saw and bought at the con too.  It was a fun time and enjoyed doing this vidcast for all of you too.  Enjoy it!

Next week will be a Skype chat all about the “Solo” movie.  Until next time enjoy your week ahead and Happy Memorial Day to all my US listeners and friend.

Podcast # 683 – Jupiter 2 – 1805.20

This week Jedi Jeff is back as the guest host covering the various versions of the Jupiter 2 spacecraft from “Lost in Space.”  With the new Netflix series (now renewed for a second season) this seemed like a cool idea for a show.  Jeff covers the Jupiter 2 from the older TV series, the film from several years back and the current Netflix show.  Big thanks to Jeff for another cool guest podcast.

Next week I’ll be here with a vidcast about Motor City Comic Con that I just went to this weekend.  It was a lot of fun and very busy too.  Until next time take care and enjoy your week.

Podcast # 682 – Batman – 1805.13

This week I cover the classic 1960’s era “Batman” TV series starring Adam West and Burt Ward.  I first talk about the usual geek stuff I’m watching on TV and at the movies and what I’m looking forward to seeing this month too.  Then it’s on to talk about a big favorite series of mine.

I grew up watching reruns of “Star Trek” and “Batman” – both TV series from the 1960’s, both lasted just 3 seasons and both left a mark on pop culture we still feel today.  I talk about the origins of the series, the actors and guest stars and play some clips of course during my discussion.  I also cover some of the behind the scenes trivia and other details about this iconic series.  It was a fun show to record and I hope you enjoy listening to me reminisce about this classic show.

Next week Jedi Jeff will be here talking about the ships of “Lost in Space” and I’m sure some collectible talk as well.  I will be at the Motor City Comic Con next weekend and will do a vidcast about that on May 27th.  Until next time take care and enjoy your week.
