New Book, “Star Trek 365”

A new “Star Trek” book is out that features a look at the original series.  This book includes lots of photos, many never seen before.  Cool behind the scenes information and great tidbits for all TOS fans.  I’ve heard from lots of fans that really love this new book and it seems to be a must buy for all Trek and especially TOS fans.  I think this will be a very neat item to get the Trek fans in your life during the upcoming holiday season.  You can buy it HERE right now.

Nokia Trek Phone Prototype

A couple of years ago, Nokia produced a very small number of “Star Trek” style communicator cell phone prototypes.  These were styled after the original series comm. unit and only a handful were made.  Now a collector has gotten a hold of one and taken some cool pictures and posted a video showing it off.  This thing is very cool and I certainly would have been tempted to buy one if they had ever been mass produced.  Sorry Apple, but even the iPhone will never be as cool as this!

“Star Trek: The Newest Generation”

A very fun and cool new fan film called “To Boldly Go” is now available for all to see.  Friend of the site and podcast Vartok has been keeping us posted on this fan effort by some young future stars who obviously really both enjoy Trek and having a good time.  Now, don’t expect a big JJ Abrams style Trek here, but if you sit back and watch I guarantee this will put a smile on your face.  Make sure to click this link HERE to view the bloopers and Dairy Queen trip videos too.  They are equally awesome!  Kudo’s to everyone involved in this very fine and fun video!

Great Trek Blog with old Pics

Stumbled across a great “Star Trek” blog today called, My Star Trek Scrapbook.  This blog has scans and pics from many old magazines that are long out of print and hard to find.  You will see some classic and very unusual pictures in this blog and I urge especially old school Trekkies like me to check it out soon.  It really brings me back to a time where everything came out only in magazines, or newspaper clippings about Trek – no internet back then.  Enjoy this awesome site!

Wizard World Chicago Con

I will be attending the upcoming Wizard World Chicago Con.  Of course, there will also be a ton of “Star Trek” stars and other celebrities too.  It will be happening on August 19 – 22 in the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.  This is shaping up to be a great midwest event for us Trekkies and other fans of great entertainment.  Click the banner above to learn more.  Here is a lineup of the Trek stars coming:

TREK FANS BEAMING AS FIVE STARS JOIN CHICAGO COMIC CON

As if having the opportunity to meet William Shatner and Patrick Stewart weren’t enough,
Wizard World Chicago Comic Con today announced the addition of five Star Trek guests,
Avery Brooks, Walter Koenig, Brent Spiner, John De Lancie and Daniel Stewart, to the
event, August 19-22 at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill.
Brooks, an actor, jazz musician, opera singer and college professor, is perhaps best known
for his television roles as Benjamin Sisko on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” Hawk on
“Spenser: For Hire” & its spinoff “A Man Called Hawk,” and his film role in American History X.
Koenig’s professional acting career spans more than forty six years of stage, television and
film work. His wide-ranging roles include everything from a teenage gang leader (“Alfred
Hitchcock Presents”) to a middle-aged Tom Sawyer (“The Boys In Autumn”). He may be best
recognized for his recurring television portrayals both of the hated, intensely driven Alfred
Bester (“Babylon 5”) and the likeable, perpetually cheerful Pavel Chekov (“Star Trek”).
Spiner began his 15-year run (on television for seven seasons and in four feature films)
portraying Lieutenant Commander Data on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” He reprised his
role in the spin-off films, Star Trek Generations (1994), Star Trek: First Contact (1996), Star
Trek: Insurrection (1998), and Star Trek Nemesis (2002).
De Lancie is best known for his recurring role as Q on the various Star Trek series, and as
Frank Simmons in Stargate SG-1. He was a regular guest star on Star Trek: The Next
Generation as the iconic all-powerful Q. He also holds the distinction of being one of the few
characters to appear in three separate shows in the franchise (as Q; TNG, DS9 and Voyager).
Daniel Stewart appeared as “Young Batai” in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and has
numerous theatre credits as well as guest spots on “Space: Above and Beyond,” “Law &
Order: Special Victims Unit” and “Without a Trace.”
The five join other notable Star Trek guests who have already committed to Wizard World
Chicago Comic Con, including Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Bobby Clark, Natalija Nogulich, John
Savage and Malachi Throne.

Ensign Sue Must Die!

A great new “Star Trek” comic has surfaced based loosely on last year’s hit Trek movie.  This strip follows the adventures of plucky Ensign Sue as she mainly causes trouble for the crew of the Enterprise.  The artwork is awesome and the stories and things that happen are very Trekkie!  Several strips are available to view now with more to come.  I urge all comic and Trek fans to check it all out HERE (or click the first strip above).

Trek Barbecue!

Some very cool pictures have surfaced featuring a day someone brought a barbecue to the set of the original “Star Trek” TV series.  Here you can see the main three stars (William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley) sharing a burger and some laughs it seems.  This reminds me so much of the scene in the “Star Trek V” film it’s uncanny.  Even the places they are sitting in relation to each other.  I wonder if this moment inspired Shatner to put the cook out scene in the fifth Trek movie?  We probably will never know.  Click the big photo above to get the the link to see more.

“Star Trek” Wall Graphics!

These are very cool.  You can now decorate your walls in true Trek taste and style.  These premium Trek wall graphics from LTL Prints come in a variety of types, and sizes (some very large too).  They are really high quality and have a nice, retro art style to them.  I know you will love to fill up that bare spot on your wall with an Orion Slave girl or maybe a nice Enterprise.  So, click on the link HERE to visit the website and order some today.  And make sure to tell them that Rico over at “Treks in Sci-Fi” sent you over!
