Selling the Trek Experience

Well, for awhile it seemed that the Vegas “Star Trek – The Experience” would be able to be opened at a new location.  But now, that seems like it isn’t going to happen.  Starting today, they are selling off the models, costumes, props, set pieces, and so on at an auction.  It’s really a shame and I’m so sad that I never made it out to see this cool, Trek exhibit in Vegas.  You can see some pics of the various items up for auction HERE and you can watch a video of the times below that have been in storage for the last year and a half.  Maybe one day we will get a brand new Trek Exhibition someday in the future!

William Shatner turns 79

On March 22nd, William Shatner turned 79 years young.  To me, he will always be Captain Kirk and one of my biggest childhood heroes (and maybe even my adult hero too).  Bill constantly reinvents himself and has had a very long and successful career.  He shows no signs of stopping anytime soon.  I hope I’m half as active and busy as he is when I reach his age.  Happy Birthday Bill!  Now, call JJ and get in the next Trek movie!  Here are some fun moments from his past time on Trek and as a singer.

How “Star Trek” should have ended

This is a funny video spoof about how last year’s hit Trek movie “should” have ended.  The makers touch on some really funny and even some inside “Trek” stuff too and make a great little video for all of us to enjoy.  They have done a bunch of others of this type of thing related to other movie endings.  Check them all out HERE.  And watch the Trek one right now down below:

“Star Trek” Con – 1975 video

This is some great footage a fan transferred for everyone to see and put it up on Youtube.  It shows all of the main cast of the original Trek at a very early convention appearance in Chicago in 1975.  Rare footage like this is hard to come by and a real treat to see for long time fans like myself.  I actually went to my first Trek con back in 1976, not very long after this footage was taken – ahh, the memories of those days.  Back then there was no internet to share things like this with everyone else.  Well, just enjoy the footage.

“Star Trek: Online” begins

The long awaited “Star Trek: Online” MMO game from Cryptic is now out.  This sprawling multiplayer, online game allows you to become a Starfleet Officer or a member of the Klingon Alliance and fight in simulated space battles and explore strange new worlds.  I’m a big fan of these types of games and am greatly looking forward to giving this one a try.  The look of the game is quite amazing and you can really customize the look of your avatar or character for the game.  Take a look at the tutorial videos below and go out and pick up your copy today or order it online.  I’ll see you somewhere out there, in the galaxy!

“Star Track – Misconceptions”

A new video production for the holidays from the “Star Track” crew is now up for viewing.  I interviewed these guys before and they do some very funny Trek parody type of videos.  Very funny stuff and they include some cool effects as well.  The video below just shows part one of this production but you can go to their section on YouTube HERE to see the rest and other things they have done.  Check it out soon and have fun watching.

Watch “Star Trek Enterprise – The New Generation”

This is a fan-made video production picking up where “Enterprise” left off.  This uses action figures, small sets, and some cool effects work.  Star Trek Enterprise – The New Generation was put together by German fan  Jürgen Kaiser. He and his team released their first stop-motion Enterprise fan film in 2008. Peter Goundrill and Limited Faith Productions have worked with Kaiser to create the English dub of the original, which was released on Christmas evening.  Watch the first part below and go to Youtube to see more or download the parts HERE.

Patrick Stewart to become, Sir Patrick

It seems Captain Picard, or really actor Patrick Stewart is going to go where no Starfleet captain has gone before – become a knight.  The Queen of England seems to be a big fan of Patrick’s and it seems he will become Sir Patrick and be knighted in early 2010.  This is quite an honor and I’m sure Patrick is quite thrilled.  He will be joining a few other actors that have been knighted over the years, such as Sean Connery and Ian McKellen.  I’m certain an honorable man like Patrick will fit in perfectly with the knights that have come before him.  Very cool news for him and his fans too.
