Brand New Trailer!

A brand new trailer is out for “Star Trek Into Darkness.”  This gives us quite a bit of new footage in a shirt, action packed trailer for us to drool over.  This theatrical trailer is attached to the new film opening this weekend, “Oz the Great and Powerful.”  I’m looking forward to seeing that movie too.  So, for now take a look at the trouble Kirk & Co. are getting into during the new movie that is now only about 2 months away!

Shatner back as Kirk on the Oscars

William Shatner paid host Seth MacFarlane a visit while he hosted last week’s Oscar ceremony.  Shatner played Kirk once again as he warns Seth that his Oscar hosting stint would be the worst ever.  It was a funny bit and it was nice to see Trek get a lot of screen time on the awards show this year (Seth is a big Trek fan).  Here’s a clip of the segment.  The quality isn’t the best, but it will give you the idea of what happened.  Watch it soon as they like to have Youtube take down clips like this quickly.

If Pixar made a Trek Film

Artist Phil Postma has created some awesome TOS Trek images in the style of Pixar.  These are really great and the inspiration he had was what if Pixar made a Trek film.  I love the style here and wouldn’t be cool if there was an animated short or something attached to the next Pixar film featuring Trek and cool art like this.  Check out Phil’s awesome stuff HERE.

Lots of Trek on Blu-Ray coming

In the next couple of months there will be a lot of “Star Trek” coming out on Blu-Ray for all of us to buy and watch.  We have season three of TNG, a special feature length Blu-Ray of “The Best of Both Worlds” as well as season one of Enterprise on Blu-Ray too.  I’m very excited by all this new content and all the special bonus features too.  The year of 2013 is turning out to be pretty special in the world of “Star Trek” and this will be a great way to kick things off as we wait for the big, new movie in May.  Here are some trailers and links to help you check out these awesome releases.

You can pre-order TNG S3 at Amazon – discounted to $91 (due April 30th).

You can pre-order Star Trek Enterprise Season 1 on Blu-ray (due March 26th) – discounted to $78.

“Into Darkness” in IMAX on May 15th

The big Trek film coming this May has moved it’s release date up a couple of days.  The catch is, this is only for IMAX theaters at this time.  Other movie houses will still get the film on Friday, May 17th.  The IMAX showsing on the 15th of May are also in 3-D too.  I’m both excited and a little sad by this news.  I love IMAX, but 3-D doesn’t do much for me.  But, I’ll still be there on May 15th to see the movie for the first time.  Click the link HERE to check for a nearby theater and buy your tickets in advance right now!

Superbowl Trek Trailer

Here it is folks – the brand new trailer shown during the Superbowl for “Star Trek Into Darkness.”  It’s short, doesn’t have a lot of new footage, but it’s still frakking awesome!  The crew and the Enterprise look like they are having a rough time in this movie and I can’t wait to see this film in May.  So pumped now – more than ever!

Mobile App for “Into Darkness”

Paramount has released a cool new mobile App that will give fans exclusive new content, previews, images, and so forth on the coming new Trek film.  This App is interactive and you have to find images, play trailers, listen to content in order to unlock new features.  I got it on my iPad and I have to say it’s a fun and creative way to market this movie to all the tech heads out there – and even average folks with mobile phones.  It’s seems to work fine on the iPad and is also available for Android systems too.  Check out the links below and make sure to get the App for the big Superbowl game today that is suppose to have a new trailer for the film during the game (in the 2nd quarter I hear).  Have fun!

You can download the free app right now at:

UPDATE: Helpful link

Many of the missions can be accomplished using the TrekMovie.com Into Darkness media page.

JJ Abrams jumps ‘Star – ships’

You might have heard by now, but director JJ Abrams has accepted an offer to direct Episode VII of the new, upcoming “Star Wars” trilogy.  I think this is a great move even if it’s hard to see him move away from the Trek films.  According to what I have read online, he is still expected to produce a potential third Trek movie after the new one coming out in May of this year.  So, I think the “Star Trek” franchise is still in good hands and we don’t have much to worry about.  It’s exciting times to be a geek and here’s just a fun look at what a potential JJ Abrams “Star Wars” film might look like.  Enjoy!
